[Question] maximum polys?

Post by Arrow1992 »

Hello guys..

I've got a question.. Does anyone have some sort of overview of how many polys a seperate vehicle/weapon may have? I remember seeing a post about this, but I can't find it any more...

Thanks

How do you see how many poly's/tri's you have in 3Ds max...

Thanks in advance :)

I would like to know too. I create stuff in 3ds max but have no idea how to check poly count and what have you.
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Not maximum poly counts, but recommended. You can go higher if you have very good poly reduction on your LODs.

To see poly counts in max: File -> summary info.

Yes thats the one I meant! thanks! :)

And btw, the amount of faces per object is the polycount?

Polycount = triangle count, methinks. Something to do with BF2 converting all faces to triangles.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

If you're using 3ds max 9 go Customize->Viewport Configuration->statistics and select Triangle count
Once you've done that just press 7 key. It should show your tricount on upper left corner.

If you're using 3ds max 8 or older you have to launch external polycount plugin from Utilities->More -menu

Yup, all normal engines do that. Even the 3d studio viewport renderer.

3d engines don't know how to render a poly with more than 3 verticles :P
