Crew man

Post by RHYS4190 »

Im requesting that the crew man be given back his spanner. taking away the spanner has just lead to tanks not getting repaired at all (most of the time). It created a massive problem for the tanks and a head ake for every one. if i can convince you to give the spanner back can i get you guys to merge the crewman kit and engineer kit Plez it make every thing more fun and better. can we get a poll going see what the users feel about this issue?.

x2

PR is a game about teamwork, and a crewman in a tank ain't gonna be able to pull away from battle and fix it up easily (tho i still think they should have a bandage-esque repair kit). If you're goin into battle in a tank, take an engi.

Or get a Engineer to be your 3rd gunner

I like tanking in PR and I am happy with the dev's decision to remove the repair tools. No more run, hide and repair. You have to deal with the consequences now. Just like the grunts do.

Engineers ftw! if a tank doesnt have an avenue of escape so he can get repairs, he's dead anyway

It will decrease armor effectiveness its hard enough to find someone willing to drive the repair trucks.. a guy following your tank is gonna be near impossible.

I can't remember the guy who mentioned it, but apparently in real life combat engineers don't really have any knowledge of how to repair armour, whereas tank crewman etc are very familiar with how their equipment works (heheh).

The Developers came up with a rational explanation but I can't remember it, however crewmen should be able to do something or other to repair their armour a little bit at least.

Yes, but... doing minor repairs is one thing (service/maintenance) and restoring hull integrity after taking a hit with SABOT/HEAT round is another thing.

I wasn't advocating that they should be returned back to how they were, just that they should be able to do some repairs of some form.

I would only allow them to do repairs to help the tank move, like tracks repair etc

IMO that'd be ideal; not restore any 'health' of the vehicle, but restore it to a semi-usable state, i.e. if (using numbers) it had 41% Health remaining and a busted track, after the repair it'd still have 41% health but a working track.

The busted track thing is solely based on health though unfortunately, due to how the engine works it can't be done differently.

Nah they can just weld a spare plate of amour onto the damaged area hell they can even store the spare pieces of amour and welding equipment in the back problem solved.

Armor thickness is 80-150mm sometimes...how can you fix that with a plate?

In reality a engineer cant repair a bridge with a wrench all alone in 10 seconds.
This is a game and it should be playable. Its perfect as it is now.

I sense that someones a bit grumpy because he cant solo tank anymore :D

Just yesterday I had an awesome round on qwai in a tank squad, we had 1 tank, 2 crewman and 1 engineer and took turns in driving, gunning and sitting in the .50 cal/repairing.

Tank driver is soloing > encounters enemy > gets hit > goes behind hill > jumps out > repairs. :P

This is where gameplay trumps reality, and rightfully so.
