Is there something wrong with me?

Because I'm not really that bothered about Al Basrah. Everyone go's on about it loads and it wins polls all the time and stuff but I don't even really like it compared to alot of PR maps.

insurgent maps feel like counterstrike and that's not necessarily a good thing. But there's a 24/7 insurgent server that is always populated.. so... /shrug

Al Basrah is just such a different map style to most BF2, it's a more objective based map than the others where you are seemingly fighting for little more than turf. Actually having some tangible item to attack or defend that once is lost is lost is just more interesting than capturing a flag.

I do like the others too but Basrah is just a nice change of pace. Even if i haven't ever managed to have a proper game on it...

I like Basrah, mainly because of the fact that it's not like the other maps. Being an insurgent is totally different from fighting in a regular army, which is reflected well in-game. Of course, it may be that this is not the kind of gameplay you like, but that's normal I guess.

I played basrah out in v.5 Irritates me to play it now, and insurgency server always has 13 year olds yelling at each other and not doing anything helpful to the gameplay.

I like Basrah, but its not the "OMGWTFWINHAX" of map design that many people seem to think it is, in my opinion. Its certainly not a bad map and much improved from the bad old days of having 1/2 to 3/4 of the US team loafing about the airport waiting for the Cobra or Warthog.

However, that said its definetly not my favorite map. I don't object to playing it and it can certainly be great fun. However, I think that it may be, in part, due to the infancy of the insurgency game mode. Much better than previous versions of Basrah but still perhaps not quite what it should be.

Also, the lack of insurgency maps means that people who like the game mode are more likely to vote for Basrah than people who like conventional warfare gameplay voting for Qwai River.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Who would anyway? Qwai is just anoying. But yea Al Basrah is not exactly the godly map it used to me made out as, I think since the Brits where added people are not as enthusiastic about the map anyway.

No, you're fine

I do like Basra a bit, since it's the only good Insurgent map. On Helmand, Insurgents get owned, since British dominate non-urban combat, unless there's a bunch of Spec Ops killing civilians.
And Desert Storm is a catastrophe, I hope they added some more technicals or pick up kits for Insurgents in the patch.

Bas reminds me sometimes of the game play found on some of the BF1942 DC object maps, it brakes up the sometimes monotonous game play of aas. Need more insurgency maps to compare against each other (Bas also sometimes feels like I’ve just dropped a concrete block on my mother board) so maybe some small close nit maps…

Qwai was just an example. my point was that there are many, many more maps that focus on conventional fighting than on insurgency.

People who want to fly jets will vote for Kashan. People who want to play as/against insurgents will probubly vote for Basrah. But people who like infantry or armoured fighting could vote for a much wider variety of maps.
