Fortunes 6.1 bugs!
Kk and update at last! although good its brought a couple of bugs into the game..heres a few ive noticed: APCs/IFVs muffle out all noise and u cant even here ur gunner firing anymore. wen u spawn on an IFV the smoke screen is automatically deployed without pressing X. Apaches also have this problem, u cant hear the engine very loud at all and for me the flares would constantly fire, reload and fire again without me pressing X. Also its not a bug but its really pissed me off but WHY ISNT THERE AN APACHE IN AL BASRAH LIKE YOU GUYS PROMISED. NOBODY PLAYS KASHAN ITS RUBBISH WE DONT NEED AN APACHE IN KASHAN!!!!!!

Never saw the flare and smoke spawn bug, and it was never reported by any of our testers.
The sound issue is different for different people with different hardware, so we are investigating but it's not a bug.
And if you think typing with caps lock will get you any respect around here, you are very mistaken.

That, and the wind noises that you get when going fast are some of the biggest problems atm. Hmmmm, I guess you could pretend that the fluttering sound is actually your AC blowing on you really hardReadMenace wrote:I use an X-FI Fatal1ty, and the muffled noises from inside armored vehicles is what I'd expect in something called Project Reality. The only bug related to the sound that I've experienced is that not all the passenger slots in the IFVs/APCs have the muffled effect.

On Basrah, there's not Apache for balance and gameplay reasons. It was accidentally left out of the build while the map was thoroughly tested with the apache on it during 0.60 beta sessions.
At the moment of release, it was acknowledge that leaving the Apache out was a mistake which would be corrected. But games on the map since then clearly showed a better gameplay and a better balance without the Apache. Hence it was decided to leave it out completely.
Furthermore, db is right. Asking for changes with attitude where you think your opinion and your taste are the only right ones will never get you a lot of sympathy. I'm sure the developers and this community are open to discuss the things you point out, but not if you start off by saying their work is rubbish. Just my 0.02.

well it was working fine before..and ive had a lot of other people sayin they cant hear the engine. is it supposed to be like that?
Ps im sorry, ive obviously offended a few people here and that was not my intention, as for me 'shouting my opinions in caps locks' in the first post. that was meant to be humurous and not to slag u fellas off.

As things stand in the 0.61 patch you can't hear the engine. While it's not strictly speaking a bug, it *is* something that the devs are aware of and I am sure they will address it as they see fit.
There is a general opinion held by many people here that while a reduction in the engine noise is certainly desirable, it perhaps needs tweaking in subsequent patches to find the "right" level.

We tested the sound changes with several different testers but it just so happened that they all had the optimal setup for it to work. If you could hear what they hear you'd love it.Red Halibut wrote:As things stand in the 0.61 patch you can't hear the engine. What I have noticed is not hearing the helicopter engine/blades spinning up. This was specifically in the Apache on Kashan, and this makes it a bit tricky knowing when to apply throttle to liftoff.
Also can't hear any damage being taken, or shots fired nearby (small or large caliber) while in closed-cockpit aircraft (gunships) or armor. I use a Creative Labs SB Audigy Pro on Max Hardware.
