SKS question.

Post by DavidP »

(Sorry to start 2 threads in the same day)

I was wondering if it's just me but does anyone think the SKS is a bit unbalanced as compared to the other Rifles? I know it has the same ammo as the AK47 a not much longer barrel but it's not much more accurate.

I can get a headshot with the 47 from 100m pretty good and 200m is my top out range on basrah with it and 150m on Mestia. But with the SKS i seem to able to hit pretty well up to 100m and my top out range is 150m.

I dont know if it's the different map and elevation but the SKS to me seems a bit innacurate. And i have done comparison shots with the SVD on both maps! Same on both 300m max range for me.

So is it just me or is the SKS abit less accurate then the AK47? Or is it the Ammo?

EDIT: Same with the L85 for me on Basrah/Mestia Unscoped i can attain 200m headshots on both maps easily.

Hey there. It's all to do with the zeroing of the weapons. SKS, AK47, SVD all have different zero points. Even though the zero points are far too accurate in 0.6 we will keep improving them.

Right now:

SKS: 100m

AK47: 300m

SVD: 600m

Take into account that the SKS sights are thicker than the AKs

SVD has 600m?
I thought, that SVD is considered a Marksman and has been zeroed to 400m? Or is that just the MEC version?

All DMRs are zeroed at 600m...
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

OK so whats mosin? But even with the SKS it is needed due to the amount of rounds the brits can put downrange.

No i meant as a comparison. On basrah i can hit 200m with the ak47 and on mestia it's 150m. With the SKS on mestia my top out range is 150m aswell what i was asking if its just me but the SKS is not as accurate as the AK47 and i got my answer.

yeah something is wrong here because the sks has a longer barrel then the ak47...
also the ingame ak47 has better accuracy then the sks (less deviation)

Someone please tell me that the above is irony.

Oh, I lied :p . It's actually

SKS: 300m

my bad. But like I said, right now they're zeroed way too accurately. Plan is to zero them to hit within an arc of a mansize target instead of what they are now which is just pinpoint accurate. I reckon that's the best zeroing we'll get with BF2 bullet physics.

Then why am i able to hit better with the AK47 on mestia? I dont rush my shots i lead my target and i aim above their head.

EDIT: It cant be the crosshairs they may be thicker but it does'nt bother me much.

As far as I know, there is no deviation on any rifle in PR.

I'm pretty sure cone firing was removed and avoided like the plague.

SKS sights arent supposed tp be thinker. They're actually better than the AK-47s sights and thinner in a way. The SKS is more accurate than an AK-47, but they are equal in power because they shoot the same caliber. I own both an SKS and an AK-47. The SKS is noticeably more accurate and has less recoil. Plus the sights are different from the PR SKS. The sights on the PR SKS aren't accurate to real life, sorry guys.

how does a real sks sights look like when you're looking down it?
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Pretty much like this.

The front post has a full ring, instead of open top like this picture (which is an AK).

Also, default "battle sights" on SKS is 200m IIRC.
