Hello,
I'm a vBF2 noob, with less that 30h played, and am enjoying quite a lot. However, while it is fine for a quick game, I can't help being annoyed by lots of gameplay elements encouraging people to stupid habits.
I'm looking at PR for some time, it seems much more mature and closer to the best military simulation I know of, my precious OFP. I connected a couple of times on PR servers, but never seriously yet.
My question is: how much bf2 exp should I need before switching to PR ? I don't wanna be a burden for my SL, but I seldom find actual squads to join on BF2, so it's quite hard to learn teamplay...
Also, I'm not able to use ingame VOIP. When I use the mic test tool in the options panel, I get input for like 2 seconds, then nothing... I use the sound card of my MB (realtek ac97 I think), and have no problem with other programs such as skype or msn.
See you soon on the battlefield

welcome, ehhh hard to say how much BF2 exp you need. As long as you know the basics you can read the PR guide which is far more complicated than vBF2 and that will tell you most of what you need to know about PR

Welcome!
Yes no vbf2 experience needed!.., just read the guides for pr and youll get the hang of it quickly. NVM about voip (although i would look at getting your problem solved as quite a few ppl use it ) as most servers have a ventrillo/teamspeak server or even use xfire.
Just remember PR gameplay is very different to vBf2 dont play pr like you play vbf2 or youll endup peeing aload of ppl off and dieing a LOT.

welcome to the game that vBF2 should have been. as for how much vBF2 experience you need, i will go out on a limb and say none, other than getting used to how you move shoot, duck, ect. the rest is totaly different that what EA has put out. be ready to wait for long periods of time after dying, and long walks only to get shot once you make it to a fire fight if you soloing it. my advice is make sure your mic is working, there are plenty of communitiy members out there that will be more than happy to help you out, just ask in game (the mic is best used rather than in game text) texting ingame only runs the risk of not being answered because folks are to busy to read it, or some that are annoyed easily will give you less then helpfull advice. the best thng to do is have a read of the players guide. and once again welcome to PR, you may never go back to vBF2 again.

read the manual before you play , it hellps so much, vanilla is really a rambo thing, no teamwork at all. im noob at this mod too but i love it so far, to be honest it took me a few weeks to warm up too it cause it is so much diff from vanilla.
so IMO forgett everyting vanilla, read the manual start over you will love it.

As D4rk_l0rdBR said. set the basic acceleration to basic in dxdiag. Then, in BF2 options go to audio - set Microphone treshold test to 0, transmit to 60% and receive all the way up to 100%. Another point would to make sure you have it set at HARDWARE.
It sounds daft, but that worked for me. Do the test in BF2 options Audio. If you can't hear your own voice ... something's wrong.
CEPT - if you have downloaded that whateveryoumightcallit - but thats another story.

Smeg: Fuzz commands a lot and promotes good teamwork, db flips vehicles, Bosco is an all-round nub, Outlawz is an SP whore, Nickbond is a friggin ninja and Rhino gets kicked for being a n00b.

RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR
