reviving teammates

Post by cptfight »

Last evening i was playing as a medic after the switch to V0.61 . I had a hard time to revive teammates, somehow most of the revives don't work. Of the 12 times i treid only one worked. Do i do something wrong or is this normal?

The medkits work fine...

Could be 2 things I guess.

1) Glitched in the terrain? Try tossing a fielddressing on them to "dislodge" then zap.
2) You basically got to hit them "dead on" in the chest to get them up.

You can't zap them standing from 2 m away, go prone and zap them in the torso

You know, that is actually the one thing that's not covered in the manual.

I find that some people have no idea about the whole stuck in terrain thing. Because everytime i tell someone in my squad to throw a bandage on me...then revive when i get killed they are just like, "wow really never knew that." Or some just don't get it at all and i end up not getting revived. Seems like not a lot of people know.

Also if the body moves away from the kit you often need to zap the kit and not the body.

It's trial and error in most cases: you'll find what works after time.

General rule: if the casualty's on a slope (whether they're stationary or sliding) throw a field dressing on them 1st to "bump" the body then zap it squarely in the chest. Should work unless, as a couple of people above have mentioned, he's slipped away from his kit then the odds of a revive are 50/50 at best.

Don't waste your shocks unless he's your SL and you desperately need him back as a spawn point to maintain an attack.

Other than that, keep at it: Medics FTW!.

I generally aim for the ***. No kidding, and it seems to work best for me. Two zaps are usually what does it for the tough cases, but most I can get in one zap. I rarely use field dressings because of ammo scarcity and because I feel it's slower (I never actually timed it).

"Aim" the fallen soldier in the midle of the screen, try to imagine a "crosshair" as in vBF2. Sometimes players "aim" the body down the screen where the padd-shocks are.

Chucking a field dressing down can help by giving the casualty an extra health boost on revival, therefore making your time spent healing them less which frees you up for whatever comes next.

There's also another upside of doing it is that you may need that boost of health so when you're trying to revive a dude YOU get the benefit of the field dressing :)

Result! ;)

Eggs ol mate, that's a heroic answer. I've never even considered that angle before. I usually end up letting my field dressings go to sod.

One tip for the new medic:

If you have a 5 button mouse, set your defibrillator to button #4, your med-pack to #5, and your main weapon to middle mouse. That way you can instantly switch-off on the fly.

Added benefit to having the main weapon on the mouse is you can switch to auto-fire intuitively at re-spawn.

Headshot = no revive. So ask them before you go for a revive. :-P

Same here - doesn't quite work on the wife though, wants me to stay around and finish the job.

Again same here - take a minute to bind that mouse.

Argh, why would I want to do that?

I hate when I pick up a rifle and forget to set it to semi (as most people use auto). I align a shot, squeeze the trigger, and go all over the place.
