Militia rally idea
The militia is supposed to be a hybrid of the insurgents with a pure pickup-based kit system, and the conventional forces with a pure request-kit system. They are supposed to be masters of long and short range, with no "mid range" weaponry, the scoped assault rifle.
On Mestia, the pickup kits are few and far between. While the basic four kits do fine in most situations, I have found the number of pickups to be somewhat lacking. To date, I recall a Mosin (or two), and an RPG at their main base, an RPG at Perimeter Base 2, an RPG and PKM at each of the towers and at storage. There are also one mosin at each tower. That's a good number of kits, fewer than the insurgency. They are, however, very widely spread out.
Conventional forces can request kits off of their rally. The militia can request squad leader from their rally only. I was thinking that mayve the militia rally should spawn one or two random kits when placed. The kit(s) could be pre-existing or some new style of kit (they're the only army that doesn't have a UGL in it).

Sure will. Militia can be a fun faction as you can technically use anything that exists for them. Grenadier was just an example. The fact that they don't have them is fine. I prefer this to be more about the rally and random kit spawning than making new pick up kits for militia.
I say:
Give the RPG trooper two RPG shots. This allows him to fall between heavy AT and light AT in the sense that he can hit the enemy twice. He keeps his SKS.
Pickup Kit:
Support -- replace the PKM with the RPK(?) since it's more common. Maybe have both versions of the kit?
Grenadier -- Knife, Skorpion, 8 F1's, soft body armour, bandage

I agree on the support kits, have both a RPK and PKM version.Expendable Grunt wrote:Pickup Kit:

For the grenadier, wouldn't it make sense for him to use an AK-47 with the GP-30? That is, if it's common enough, which I doubt. So actually the 8 F1 grenades might sound good...

My suggestion for militia grenadier.
Grenadier doesn't have to be equiped with an UGL. You can give him grenade launcher as a separate weapon. It makes no difference, because in BF2/PR if you want to use grenade launcher you have to change the weapon anyway (using mousewheel/keyboard_numbers). Old fasioned Grenade launcher is already available (BF2:SF) just change tear gas grenades to smoke/frag grenades... and make it a pick up kit.

You didn't understood.Outlawz wrote:So make a weapon, that just launches grenades?
K, but don't complain, when the entire squad gets naded by one guy with a nub tube weapon
Old fasioned grenade launcher instead of under-barreled grenade launcher, the rest of equipment stays almost the same (yes, he also have assault rifle like other grenadiers).

I have a few.[R-DEV]IronTaxi wrote:or a wider variety of pickup kits....me and rhino talked about this a bit...we will see if anything comes of it..
offhand...can you guys come up with a list of useful pickup kits for the militia
(by useful i mean reasonable of course too!!)
1. Grenadier: Like rangers said a good ol fashioned hand grenade launcher.
Knife, SKS, M79, Smokes, Binocs, Field dressing.
2. Heavy AT: Now that the Eryx is gone how about giving them the RPG-7 with extra rockets?
Knife, Skorpion, RPG-7, Smokes, Binocs, Field Dressings.
3. Marskmen: Now before says well they have the officer with an SVD and the Scout is good enough. I think not. Scouts nice but having an unscoped rifle does'nt allow it to full fill the role well and officers have other more important things to do.
Knife, Scoped SKS, Smokes, Binocs, Field Dressing.

Assuming they're going to stick with the "worlds worst armed weapons dealers" dynamic for the faction, the best choice for a "launched" grenade (as opposed to having a guy with a whole load of frags, which isn't all bad) would probubly be rifle grenades. If it would be possible to make a remodel of the SKS (I'd imagine the DEVs would need the EoD team's permission) the rifle grenade attachment seen on the yugoslav version could be added along with rifle grenades, which would also require a new animation.
DavidP, there is no military scope mount for the SKS that I know of, thus a scoped SKS would be unrealistic. Also, I don't think it would fit well with the current "feeling" the malitia give.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I know it's modern but hey it's PR and it's set in the near future. And there are also ak47 mounts that were developed by the russians.
Btw I like the idea of rifle grenades but the animation would be a b*tch to do!

Thats not a military scope mount. In fact, it appears to replace the rear portion of the reciver. Such a scope was never issued by any nation that uses the SKS.
The AK series do indeed have have scope mounts, an entire sub series the "N" (AKMN, AK-74N, RPKN, etc) exist fitted with side mounts for various sights, such as the PSO-1 and 1P29. As such, one of these would be a much more realistic choice than a scoped SKS.

AKMN with a scope, which is what I just said.
Or even a scoped RPKN, with a 30 or 40 round magazine (a 75 round drum seems excessive), as the RPK is supposed to be more accurate than the normal AKM due to the extended barrel and stiffened receiver.
