Suggestion for squads and Teamwork Improvement.

Post by DEDMON5811 »

Two things I would like to see done if possible.

1. Different colors for each squad that would show on the names. Currently if you see your own squad they appear in green writing and everyone else in blue. I would like to see maybe each squad have a different color so you could see who was in what squad and the location of each squad. This way not only the squad leader is visable on the overhead map.

for example.
Alpha squad would appear Red
Bravo squad Blue
Charlie squad Orange
etc. etc.

2. If we can make the Commander voip chat button fuction as a Squad leader Voip chat. This way you can syncronize with fellow squad leaders.

Great idea, but the only problem is how do you get people to actually use this? Like I said, it is good, but there is no point to improving something people hardly use. Still, if there could be servers with dedicated admins who force people into teamwork, this could make the game have even more tactics.

Well I Know that we use teamwork quite often. Actually we try to use it everyday. We used it today and luckily My squad with me as squad leader and the other squad ran by Neo were able to coordinate because we were both in teamspeak.

I dont know about you lonelyjews but you must use teamwork in order to win on prmm. There is a script that forces people into squads and that may be something that can be implemented if fritz can and is willing too.

I could see times when such a system would be great. Mainly when there's a full squad and another on that's barely filled. It make things slightly easier using that small secondary squad as a backup for the main one.

Friggin roger that! In real life are the squad leaders really in touch with the commanders/guys shooting arty? Don't think so. But they are in touch with each other. The squad leader VOIP would help a lot in conjunction with the color coded stuff.

Oh, and in vanilla BF2 the commander has this little sound that preceeds talking and the commanders name is in yellow with a star beside it.

I think.

Red = ENEMY! Have any of you had that red/blue bug? if you see a red tag you shoot at it in BF2, then ask question l8er

Avoid from using Red as somone whos playing nromal BF2, then goes to play PRMM will just shoot alpha squad to death, and no 1 will want to be in alpha squad :-P

Would be better if you used logos instead of colored names.

Well I was just throwing color ideas out there. Red would not be necessary maybe just slightly different colors of blue and green. It's just an idea. and shouldnt be too hard to implement.

One concern .. might not be that big a deal but it comes up... color can eliminate some % of the color blind populaiton (higher than you think).

A suggestion might be to format the names something like
rank - nick - squad

eg:
^ eggman B

where B = Bravo

the B designation could remain fixed, regarldless of custom squad name, as in the 2nd squad to be created would always be B, 3rd could be C, etc.

This is useful information imo.

Why not write simply Bravo then?

For example:

Bravo 1 - Colonel Poppycock

(1 being the squadleader, replace colonel with rank image)

Name ranges should be tuned down though, so it doesnt become to clogged.

The good thing is when communicating to squadmembers, you dont have to know names. Just say Bravo 3, etc. Assuming THEY know who they are of course, lol!

Plus I can finally relive my fondest memory of OFP.

*3 dies*
"OH NO... 3... IS DOWN..."
"OH NO... 3... IS DOWN..."
"OH NO... 3... IS DOWN..."
*1 dies*
"OH NO... 1... IS DOWN..."
"OH NO... 3... IS DOWN..."
"OH NO... 1... IS DOWN..."
*repeat every second for the entire round*

Actually it was a bug introduced in a patch (and then fixed in the next, since it made the game unplayable). The soldiers repeated the death messege, for everyone they see go down until the end of the game. You can imagine the symphony it caused when several had died
