Doesn't always work ^^
Especially, when you just picked up/spawned as a medic, you won't immediately see the heart icon above critically wounded players.
I think, the simple solution to this would be killing EVERYONE and not leaving out a medic hiding in some ditch, waiting for the right moment, when he'll zap his squad back to life.
