Well the problem with the handle bars is that i cant make them move different amounts at different speeds, ive already made them move much less than before but i dont think it would be any beter to have them moving even less now.

The bike does lean quite far (45degrees) - it may not seem like it leans so far because the camera stays horizontal all the time, and like with the handle bars this was the best balance i could find.

But do remember that with the new view, you cant turn your head (yet).
if anyone has any idea how to help with this problem im open for suggestions - although you should read my other post to see what i have already tried, also if anyone wants to help test the bike ill upload the files like before.

Hmmm anyone know who i should pm about actually getting this into the mod?

Ive sort of made all improvements i can make - and hit a brick wall when it comes to other things. I think certain problems like the camera could be easily fixed by someone with a bit more experience than myself (mabe a dev?). Should be no more than a 2 minute job for whoever takes it up, as long as they know what they are doing.

Nice job dude, looks better than the one we currently have in PR :D

I hope this makes an ever small appearance in PR ( Dirt bikes are few and far between - but doesn't mean they should be a deathtrap lol )

Ok heres the latest version of the bike, sorry no video yet as my computer is playing up atm. anyway, new version includes the visable arms; mouse stearing; and neckbrace (trust me youll know what i mean when you try it - but you might not care). Follow all the read me instructions if you want to eventualy help with online testing (need to do this to see if lag is a problem).

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SYD62SI9

The main view (the one with arms) is actually after 2 presses of the c button/F10. Also some feedback on which view you prefer would be nice (sorry about the unecessary ones, i havnt got round to removing them yet). I left in the 2 regular 1st person views as i am going to be experimenting with a control method much like that of halo. but for now they are unecessary.

Current known issues are that the bike can be turning at high speeds even whith the wheel dead straight - im looking into it.

Flan, since you got this to work so well, heres an assignment that would land you R-CON for sure and well on your way to dev (at least in my eyes hehe)

the 50cal weapons currently all have ironsite mode. however what they are severely lacking is the hand holding the trigger grips in first person. I know it would be a bit more complex to add then the dirbike hands, but this would be helluva sweet addition!!!!

check the humvee 50cal, by pressing C you can see the ironsite mode

good luck, this document will self destruct in 5,4,3, ;)

I will try my best, but like you say its a bit more complex. I cant promise anything but i will try ;)

Oh and i found a few bugs with the bike myself. Mainly if you get off it when not in a upright position the stearing gets offset with the leaning, this is a minor bug that i can easily fix but this is just so you know ;)

damn i guess thats another thing thats hardcoded...

I tried the new version out and found it impossible to control lol the steering with the mouse thing is really hard, has sensitivity got anything to do with it? i was all over the place kept spinning out lol

lol yeah i think any sensitivity of 1 or lower should be fine (mine is at 0.7 or something). i guess i didnt think about that ;) but its probably mostly just getting used to it thats the problem (also a good tip is not to try to go full speed all the time, slow down for cornering etc - just like any non-crazy person would do IRL ;) ).

I cant do any work on it atm cause i just successfully uninstalled bf2, only to realise i dont have the cd key ;) . Just have to get it off my bro again so i should be up and running soon. :D

Oh wait ive just realised your problem - you need to use the view with visable hands. I havnt finnished the controls for the others so they are impossible, also the stearing is quite sensitive - just remember how hard it was to learn to fly a heli for the 1st time ;)

No actually i havent, but if im not mistaken that will make the bike fly more, which has always been criticised as unrealistic. I will try it and see what the outcome is like. if i can get 3dsmax to work then i will be able to modify the colision mesh and that will sort this out anyway, but so far im having no luck

I got hold of GoldenDragons "dragon bike" recently. however, im having a hard time with its handling. I dont know which version i will use in the future.

Ok, heres an update to let you guys know that im still working on this and also to ask for some help on a few things. I have also switched computers which has set me back a bit.

This being the first vehicle i have ever modified in the bf2 editor, i am coming across some things that i dont understand. First problem is that I want the bike to fall to the ground if left at a tilted angle without any player input, at the moment it just stays in watever angled position you leave it in (as if it had no weight) and no matter what i try i cant get this to change - anyone who has set up a chopper or jet could probably help with this 1. Second thing is that when adding wings to the bike i cant get them to have any effect whatsoever - again anyone whith experience rigging aircraft could probably easily help me here.

Other problems im having is that i cant get the dirtbike to work ingame, it just crashes when loading the objects, but ill try to fix that once i have the thing set up. Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit: I now have wings working
