The Saxon will not be retired until after the Panther and FRES have been fully introduced. It may even stay as a specialist vehicle after that, seeing as they finaly are looking to fix the gearbox. The Mastiff PPV is a large vehicle and is not particularly fast, I doubt it will be popular to those who are used to patroling in a WMIK.
PS: Is the MoD naming new ground vehicles after dogs now? I guess they ran out of appropriate or cool words that started with S. :)
Well Sceptic would have been a low blow.... j/k :-P :o ops:
And the FV432 APC has never left service and has received a substantial upgrade in its Mk3 Bulldog configuration.
True, but we are talking about a Cold War era chassis.
dont think many would want to mess with that vechile, .50 a GPMG and an auto nade launcher i think it is anyway, the thingy on top
It is only armed with a L2A1 HMG (on top) and a L7 GPMG (used by the passenger). The picture is a fake, photoshoped.

Here is a picture of the vehicle being used by THEM.

I don't think it's faked, afaik they used a US made pipe weapons mount for the benefit of the photo opportunity. It is true that it's not the standard setup though when it's issued to units.

As per ARRSE SOPs, the text 'THEM' should be in Italics :D

It was probably ignored for a reason, but what about utility vehicles mentioned on the last page for transporting more units as a faster, less armoured, none armed, low cholesterol and fully vegan alternative to the Saxon? Or is one of the 2 posted used as the Brit commander truck, which come to think of it I don't think I've actually seen in game yet for some reason...

When the British Army recruits midgets, then I would think twice. The guys in the front would put Snow Whites seven pimps to shame, the guys feet don't even touch the cabbin floor.

I fail ARRSE's tests of Squaddie literacy. Tryed to stand five minuets in the Army's second life island, I ended up spending more time in ARRSEpedia than in the game... Its been a wile since I was 'in', so now I have to relearn everything, Damm Pongos.
