Finally Getting Here

Post by Kaffi Java »

Just joined forum, been experiencing the battlefield world for sometime now. Even though I've been going back in time, it's been an evolution.
BF2142 then to BF2, and now PR. They all rock! Started PR a few month ago, but just finishing up a major move, things are back up and running, and so am I.
Preping for another OIF rotation right now, busy and gone alot, play when I can, seeing if any other US Military Personel are out there to squad up with and do a "Painless Mental" train up up for our own Reality in the near future.

There are plenty in game, but don't shun us non-military types either. We all mix well in game and follow procedures thoroughly. In fact you have to consider some of us come from a FPS background as well as military and understand the mechanisms and techniques of the game engine that would be quite helpful for the newer player to learn, much like any new system there is a method.

I'll give you an idea:

- Motion is given a higher code value than stationary; If you are prone and stationary in a bunker, laying up for an enemy to enter said bunker, that moving enemy has a higher firing priority than you the stationary player. Even if you seemingly fire first he hits you first and your the dead guy even though you had "the bead" on him. (Odd but it's the method, probably a hold over from q3 engine's anti-camping system) The solution is to always stay in motion. Even strafing (shifting) from side to side in preferably a crouched position (your aim is more accurate croutched rather then standing) I particularly love hunting and then knifing prone campers in the bushes around the capture points. It's particularly enjoyable to give them a "love tap" to get their attention before full insertion...heh-heh

- Back-peddling: Your shots are more accurate and are steadier while moving backwards and strafing from left to right.

- Plus several glitches in the BF2 engine such as leading a shot from behind instead of in front of the player your firing at?...lol what??..yep that's right, you have to lead your shots behind a running player not in front of him.

So plan on joining the entire community brother, we're tight and know what's right.

It's called hit box lag. Here's a video that might help explain it best:

Let me rephrase my whole intention on that opening thread, I have only the highest respect for PR/BF2 gamers, it is a very skillful talent to be a bad *** in the BF world. I see remarkable things transpiring all the time, I meant no disrespect Johnnypissoff. Hell I get creamed by most at this point, I really don't have any high ground to be cocky on by any means.
I was mostly inquiring more about soldier camaraderie about being deployed in Iraq is all. PR bad *** is respectible by all means, but surviving in 130+ degrees with bullits, mortars, IED's... You know as well as all there is no respawn time there. But again, know disrespect brother, I would squad up with any soldier in PR.

I know kennwayy was in Iraq with the 101st.
There are plenty of marines and soldiers who haven't been there though.

Oh for sure Kaffi, I can dig where your coming from. I wasn't trying to come off like a horses ***. Just was pointing out the mix works well for PR. I've learned a heck of a lot from my active as well as inactive service buddies.

Yea that damned hit box **** sure muddies the scene somewhat, but I try not to let it interfere with my imagination...heh-heh

To snag your player ID out of a server:
- open console (the tilde key ~)
- if python type: bf2.playerManager.getPlayerByIndex

Your CD Hash:
not easy to snag from console here's a Key Hasher Program:
http://www.battlefield.no/filer/pafiled ... ile&id=194

The PunkBuster GUID:
type: pb_sv_plist in console

Actually this is less of an issue in Project Reality. It still exists (quite badly in some cases) with vehicles moving at speed - jets in particular - but infantry have a much lesser problem now thanks to the fact that running speeds have been reduced.

Because players travel at a slower speed, the hitbox lags less far behind - and certainly if you tried out what they do in that video and strafe sideways facing each other, you'd find that shooting the enemy's chest region would cause hits to register both at your end and theirs.

"Did they say what he's angry about?" asked Annette Mitchell, 77, of the district, stranded after seeing a double feature of "Piranha 3D" and "The Last Exorcism." - Washington Post

Cool, thanks for the update. This info will help if not for accuracy but for personal confidence of knowing at least.
