Wreckage on insurgent maps?

Post by Soulja »

Is there any possibility of seeing more destroyed cars and wreckage on the streets on maps like Al Basrah.I think they are too scarce on the map and it seems like a perfectly apparent idea that insurgents may use cars and junk to try to make the roads through the town harder to move through and to put IEDs in. What im getting at basically is there should be more destroyed cars and stuff littered about in places so the insurgents can actually ambush vehicles and stuff going down the road. The way it is now you have to hope the come to a very specific spot near the 1 piece of debris in the road (which they wont) or throw down the charges in the middle of the road which can be seen and bypassed most of the time. I dunno, yall can elaborate on it.

maybe allow insurgent SLs to place burning wreckage around the map to have a more dynamic roadblocking experience.

Whats the point of having a civi with a shuvel anyway, building the ennemies assets?
But I dont really think that putting a wreckage would be realistic. You dont see 8 or 10 insugents running around with a wreck just to make an ambush.

well if British forces were going around town destroying your supplies, what would do?

A. block their path with operational vehicles that could potentially be used against them.
B. Block it with landmines that will probably cause more harm to your own cities occupants than the enemy
C. Block the street with obsolete wreckage that is burning and could seriously obstruct the coalitions path without harming your own team.

I like the idea of having deployable wrecks for insurgents, this would also give the insurgent commander (if there is one, im not sure I usually just SL) a some what important role on the battlefield

The only way i see deployable wreckage working is if it could only be destroyed by C4 from the engi. I was talking more like burning cars and stuff on the road sorta like you see from the 1st Gulf War, not roadblocks.

I think i understand that you want a more war-torn urban feel to maps, with more nooks and crannies to place IEDs?
well if they are deployable not only can they provide more support for IEDs but it would add an element of surprise, so say one round a warrior creeps up a side street and takes out a cache, next round an insurgent SL would place a wreck there, when the warrior turns the corner it's damaged by the burning wreckage and has to either unload it's troops or find another way.
but i do agree, if the mappers could add more burning wrecks it would add alot of realism the the urban felling.
sorry for hijacking your thread :o ops:

Flashpoint has a weeks worth of out the box gameplay, after that it's boring. "

Deployable roadblocks was something I suggested in the Militia Unique Deployables thread, which as discussion went on was talked about adding to Insurgent.

Thus, it is a good idea :)

Would it be possible to have the existing vehicles last longer when they are destroyed ?
And perhaps more vehicles ( unarmed, non spawning ) so that the Ins would have to create roadblocks.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Thats a good idea. More burning, smoking wreckage would add better feel to the town thats thorn apart by war.
If there could be vehicles (cars, vans, trucks, buses) that can be moved and after they are destroyed they change to solid objects... but probably thats not possible, cause it sounds too good ;) So adding some solid wreckage on the street its the idea that can come true. Or maybe Im wrong...?

But insurgents should be able to move 'em when they are in group, we cant have a single superman Taliban throwing burning cars on the road.

It would be coool tho...

Well, by saying moved I ment drived around as you drive a car. Sorry. And not a wreckage but a normal car, normal bus etc. and after they got destroyed with nades C4 rockets molotovs they become wrecked and they change to solid objects so they can stay to the end of the map. That what I ment. But dont think this is possible to do.

I think it's possible but you'd just have to make it to where their carcass would stay longer and not turn into an object.

To expand on this, a neat add on would be if they made it where insurgents could place the wrecks like a RP, maybe make different kinds like one with explosives in it that makes a big explosion when destroyed or one i think would be kinda realistic actually and that's one that blows up like a molotov simulating that maybe the insurgents put gas cans and stuff in it so when the allies blow it up it still causes a problem (aka the fire burning). I dunno lol, i'm just spitting out ideas.

great ideas! give the insurgents some more strategies--fortification. Insurgents should be able to build checkpoints, deploy mounted machine guns strategically, deploy wreckage, build roadblocks, perhaps deploy certain vehicles perhaps? etc. The same commander abilities would apply, but much less robust.. If they play as a team, this is their reward! Would add a new dynamic.

DEVS< great ideas here!
i no this idea has already been posted and everything but this would be a big leap for pr mean fastroping in a blackhawk is comen with urban eviroments and heck in the game joint task force when u get reenforcements they fast rope so y should bf2 be differ this would half to be a thing were its limited to blackhawks and maybe the merlin but they would only carry a few ropes
