Working on the maps rotation for realism

Post by Nemosphere »

Hello, I just started a brand new server. I love PR for realism gameplay and immersion ability.

One of my ideas is to work on the maps rotation to adapt it in function of geographic position of the countries. I'm trying to give a continuity to the players when they won or lose a round.

Is there any existing thread about that purpose ? I don't found it yet.
If not I'm interested to create it, at the good place.

Actually i'm working on the Middle-East coherent maps rotation.
I found these implicated countries : Lybia, Oman, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Jordania, Afghanistan... and i'm trying to organize them.

I will appreciate a lot to exchange informations with others gameserver admins or people who know well strategic and political history.

I'm sorry for my poor english and the spelling mistakes or syntax errors I could do. ( tanks to http://www.google.com/translate_t) ;)

you used a translator for that post? wow, didn't notice, but i shouldn't really be the one to judge :p

we have thought about this on the dev forums before too, but ehhh not many maps can really be linked. there is afew like Gulf of Oman and Muttrah City (not in the current release) and some upcoming maps that are linked like fools road to AoM but off the top of my head there aint any in the current release that are directly related to each other.

Can try to organize them due to geog location but not sure if that will work too well.

Good luck with the coding! When you are done we may be interested ;)

Just for translating words, not for the whole message. I can speak english but I have not much vocabulary as in French.

:? : I am not coding anything, i just work on the maplist.con
But you're right, i seen that it exist a command to save or reload the maplist.con, and my next project will be to STAY on the same map if the attackers failed to win the round. Actually I just try to work on the maplist.
For example: attack Al fallujah is coming after taking control of south Iraq, at Al basrah.

Can you give me the link to the thread you raise ?

Thank you.
