What BF2 is missing is this, no snow maps. Not 1. Thou you ain't exactly going to find a MEC soldier on a block of ice

But the point still stands. There are no snow maps. I would really like to see you guys make some and it wouldnt take much. Add a new texture to the map, add some new sounds for that texture. It looks like its even possibal to do falling snow in a map from what somone is showing on the bf2e forums.

You would also need to do a lot of skinning to make this look good. You would have to change all the infantry skins and add snow cammo skins to all of them as a man walking through the snow with a desert camo on is just going to stick out

You might want to aim to put this in when you get to 1.0 but what do you all think

This has been discussed but was put forward for a later date if at all. Creating a snow map would be very hard to accomplish, as artic warfare is very diffrent to other aspects of war given the enviroment, meaning lots of research will have to be done. Also, it would require the remoddeling and skinning, aswell as coding of nearly everything ingame. This would divert necessary rescources that we cannot afford to lose. However, never say never....

Im pretty sure it wouldnt take any remoddeling but it would take some skinning.

But yes that is a good reason for why not to use it. When you make all the brit stuff you could make a snow skin to go with it just incase. Thats what we are doing with every model we are doing in my mod so when we get round to doing that type of map we dont need to make all the new skins at once

Arctic warfare is one of my favorites but as Homer says it would be alot of work, so It's something to look forward to.

As for remodeling I think he means that the troops cold weather gear would probably be different from what they'd be wearing in the desert or in the jungle. Also some vehicles might need to be adapted for the cold weather.

So again, something to look forward to perhaps .

The snow if fairly easy to acomplish, unless you want to make your own snow texture you can use sand and it gives a very realistic effect. there are some posts on the bf2 editor forums http://bfeditor.gotfrag.com/

The only major change would have to be the skins for the player models and posably vehicles etc.

If that could be done easily however, it probably would be done at a later stage, we are just focusing on bringing out other parts of the mod thats all!

You can slap on the mec and of course china on some snow maps. Right now it's snowing in afghanistan and Iran and other countries on that lateral line.
