The nature of things

Post by ArmedDrunk&Angry »

Recently one of the spoiled children of PR started crying because his idea didn't get all the accolades he thought it deserved.

Then we had people who have been on the forums for mere months complaining that they are bored with the current maps.

Now perhaps they have been playing for much longer than they were registered on the forums, I have no way of determine that but I will go on the info I do have.

This is a FREE mod.

To those of you who don't understand that it means you did not pay for it and even if you did it wouldn't give you the right to demand changes anymore than any other game would.

If you are bored by the maps, make your own.

And when you deliver the product of your hard, unpaid work, expect a torrent of criticism on every detail.

If you are bored, stop playing, simple as that.

Or, like some of us that have been playing for quite a while, find new ways to win on the existing maps.

Perfect your small unit tactics and hone your leadership skills.

Given the amount of time I have seen flags lost because everyone bunnyhops away to the next flag I would say the community as a whole has a long, very very long way to go before they can legitimately say they have exhausted every attack route, every defensive scheme that this innovative FREE mod of an outdated engine has to offer.

But, of course, long before you are able to do that a new map, a new vehicle, a new untried feature like civilians will be introduced and the learning process will begin again.

I know I am not alone in welcoming new people to the mod and helping to bring them up to speed on the changes from the game that you actually paid for.

A game, I might add, whose features you have no say whatsoever, unlike Project Reality that has included many community members suggestions, along with their tangible additions such as maps and models.

While I know I am a very calm peaceful person who avoids even the hint of conflict, I am tired of the constant implications that the mod would be better if only so-and-so's suggestions were implemented.

Thank You and Good Day.

A true pr'ist hast spokenht. All hail the o'mighty devs \o/ MMMMbaaa... MMMMbaaaa.... MMMbaaaa

Serioulsy, that was really chlidlish to come here and whine. Like AD&A said, it's free. What I like in mods that their are made by players and the publishers cant touch them with their tentacles. So keep up the good innoative job devs!

I cant belive ppl are complaining there aint enought maps. In Pr there is over 20 maps, in vBF2 there is 12, and most new games only come out with like 8 maps?

:| If people are complaining about the lack of maps they should go and make one!

And not just any map,a good one, then they'll see how great PR's maps are! :-P

All those complains have not basis... as Rhino said there are 20 maps in PR actually, if no one of them can satisfy you don't bother the community.

Not because of you, but a person who is now no longer a forum member after he started two incredibly stupid and disrespectful threads in one day.

I agree. Its not only the maps. Ppl are coming here and complaining that this is bad, this should be diffrent. I dont mind posting new ideas cause its all abaut and dont mind ppl that are reporting bugs (in a polite way). But i happen to read some post that in my opinion were rude impolite. Ppl were complainin that this is fu**ed up and that would be a lot better or playable at all if only you would make something like this or that. Sometimes I really think that dev's have divine patience. Ppl should come here to thank. "Thank you for your mode, and all the time you spent doing everything that is in it. I love it. Thank you again. Keep the good work. And here is my idea abaut.... Say what you all think abaut it." Really, some respect to the ppl that not only have their own lives, jobs, gamers lives but still find some time to make and improve this mode. Good post Armed, maybe some ppl would think twice before posting something that shouts "You suck defs", because they deserve a lot more respect.

Reddish_Red: We're fine...

Random.. ehmmm... "player": Give me the chopper. No. I want to fly. No. But I want to, get out from it now or I TK you. ... ... ... No

My post was not directed at you.
It is a sense of frustration that has been building slowly for about 2 months and came to a boil after reading the now banned person's thread.

It is a cyclical event that people complain and this release did not bring the same influx of people so it took longer for my frustration to reach this level.

When .7 is released you will see another influx of people demanding all sorts of things, and if the past is any teacher, threats that the mod will die if their suggestions are not taken.

I am not directing this at any one person.

good points but i dont think the r devs want to back hand the users like that. After all the whole place is built for new users, etc. They can complain, you know what? LET THEM. does not mean the devs have to listen...after all it is their mod and these are their versions of everyones ideas.

20 x 3, as almost every other has at least a 16p version aside from 64p, if not 32p.

So 50-60 different maps to play ;)

I dont see how people can get bored of the maps, each time you play a map theres an infinate number of ways you can play the map and an infinate number of outcomes for each map.

I think i figured it out for myself, after acouple rounds i have noticed it is not the maps, its the people those "complainers" play with. since this mod is orianted on teamwork, and these maps are made for teamwork, if none is availble this means that people walk around lone wolf, and once they play the map acouple of times they get a good idea of it and want something new. so once again, if you ask me, it comes down to the people/
