Sandwalls

Post by nicoX »

Give the (engineers) riflemen the ability to built sandwalls with his shovel. The sandwalls should work as a camouflage or light protection for a tank, APC or (Humvee). Only deployable within the area of the vehicle and on places (maps) where there is sand.
Who will get the ability for placing it is the SL.

normaly when you make a sand wall you need to get the sand from some where, probaly if you are in the desert you would dig a whole. Wouldn't make sence for a sand wall to spring up in a city, in a woodland or ontop of a building now... + we cant also make a small bit of terrain go down to act like you have dug it out from there if we could some how limit it so you could only build in sandy areas.

I can see why it would be unlogical for someone to build a sandbag wall in a urban area without sand nearby, but woodland? why not? does the sandbags explode if you put soil in them?

sandwalls are not sandbags :p

sand walls is a large pile of sand....

In woodland you would have to dig up routs etc, and would be a mud wall :p

In most tanksquads one of the tanks have a DOZERBLADE mountet in front of the tank to dig in hull downs positions to the squad.
It takes about 10-15 min to make a perfekt shoothing positions. covering the tank completly. Sand or dirt makes no different. I have done this manny times R/L

You dont stop a tank it can dig in everywhere :-P

The tank makes the hull down driving forward and backwards with the DOZERBLADE down 5-6 times then you will have a big hole with a wall of dirt in front of the positision about 10-12 meters long with a obersevation and a shoothing position. completly covering the tank when in observation, and only the turret can be seen in shooting. I have never digd in concrete but you can tear down a building easily. just driving into it with the DOZERBLADE pushing to the wall. It is allso used for clering road ahed for whatever

hehe sounds cool, problem is no way to do it realistically ingame, apart from if the mapper pre sets them abit like EJOD Desert.

For making a hole there is no need. I don't think IRL they do holes. "In a crisis situation" you don't want the APC to get stuck in a hole. So they take the sand or mud from different places.
As for sand or mud walls it should be map specific. On Mestia for example the wall should pop up as a mudwall.
