retail BF2 installed?
retail BF2 patch v1.41 installed?
PR v0.61 installed?
latest GPU drivers and DX installed?
Changed your GPU and need your shader cache folder deleting?
Got the right hardware to play?

cos I know this won't

Today I installed BF2 again since ages and it works fine on 1.41

Now I installed PR aswell and it indeed CTD`s everytime when it loads.

I played PR months ago and it worked fine as it was at that point.

Now with this patch ..it`s hopeless.

No not even joining the proper servers helps :P

So kindly tell people what to do to get it fixed ....or tell them what it is what`s causing it may be helpfull aswell ;)

@REXON64: It would help if you say what hardware your're using and if you're running on WinXP or Vista, etc..

Also, if you want people to help you, calm down.

Downloaded the full release and it works fine now.

So it has something to do with the patch release I guess.

I also have CTD issue on certain maps, the street map plays fine but the rest either CTD upon load or after 20 minutes of play for no reason CTD:

Al the insurgency maps lag like hell and freeze up BF2

I have a fresh install of Vista 64 with freshly installed BF2 1.41 en the latest PR full download.

My specs are:

Intel Quad2Core Q6600 2,4Ghz
Asus P5N32 E
4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 RAM
Club 3d GeForce EN8800GTS 640MB
Samsung SATA II/300 500GB drive

If you believe the problem lies in having multiple cored taking time to service a single process, just set only one core to service the process.
  1. Go to the task manager.
  2. Find the BF2.exe (thats the name if I remember correctly hehe)
  3. Right click and select Set Affinity
  4. From the available checkboxes, leave only one checked. Do not uncheck them all.

Hope it helps

This is not possible, tried that yesterday but get error that i am not allowed to, while this is possible with other processes. i am running the game as local admin, so i should have complete access.

I also downloaded the full release of PR and vanilla BF2 runs perfectly without a glitch so i guess its a PR issue.

I have a P4 HT 3.4GHz, 2Gb RAM, Radeon x1650pro @1240x1028, Windows XP Home & Pro and Vista Ultimate (Multi Boot), latest direct x (Novemeber 07), latest v of PR & BF2 and all drivers for all my hardware are up-to-date. I run the game at maximum graphics and have done since I got it, but it randomly stopped working. BF2 still works fine.

I have NOT made any changes to my rig with the exception of a new heat sink. I know the problem isnt over heating as I monitor my hardware heat sensors 24/7 and I can run Crysis without any major issues. The problem started about 1 week after I installed the latest patch.

I have reinstalled both BF2 and PR but the problem still persists.

for mods I'd recommend knocking gfx settings down a bit (turn off EAX was the old classic too!)

Had CTD problems on Bi ming loading. I loaded another map first then Bi ming and no CTD when loading that map...Strange.

I use Vista64 on my system. -specs- Everything updated and installed in the right order but still get CTD when the round is over and loading a new map. Kinda annoying when i gotta start up the game and find my team again after the CDT. Even tried the hotfix, but still CTD. Guess its a Vista problem? Vista somtimes reports a memory problem, even though the hotfix should sort out this problem.

Anyone found a solution other than installing XP ?
