Militia Pilot -- Give him a use in the future?
Militia gets a pilot kit for some reason. I was wondering if in a future (urban?) militia map, they could get something like a common civilian-market chopper, like the Bell something-or-another? Something either weaponless, or with some retrofitted light weapons; or maybe even a "common" military scout chopper? It could be used for recon of the map -- Militia, despite poor armament, is a "know what they're doing" faction.

The Chechen rebels of which are depicted in the 1 map they are in at the moment are commonly referred to as insurgents. An insurgency is an armed political uprising against some form of authority, doesn't have anything to do with how well equipped or what tactics the insurgents may use.
Anyway I'm sure helis of some form or other arn't out of the question. For some reason or other the Russians seem to like selling arms to the Chechens for them to use to shoot at them (well that's what I've read doing my essay on the Chechen wars but I haven't done nearly enough research yet), so perhaps something Soviet may be in order. Plus there'll be countless civilian aircraft the militia can get a hold of as grunt said that they could graft whatever onto.
The only reason factions like this survive is cos they innovate. For example in the Indochina war the Vietnamese and Laotian rebels carted AA guns, amongst other heavy arse equipment, in from CHINA by HAND. The village militia, I think that's what they were called at least, would strip big items down by hand and cart them in hundreds of pieces across valleys, and people from the next village would take them across the next etc. Just one example of how far insurgent groups will go to kick people out their country.

why not? They are after all human beings with a wealth of money support, im sure theres a militia faction that used/uses light helicopters for quick transport and things, which is one of the main aspects of why guerrilla fighting was so effective against the slow lumbering armies of the past.agentscar wrote:I think Militia shouldn't have any aircraft, doesn't really make sense...
I suppose it doesn't serve any huge purposes except transport, with the mod as it is at the moment, but with more emphasis on scout chopper tactics it would prove a very nice asset for militia, and good for balancing out maps as well..
my two pence
thanks, pete

Generaly I don't think that Militia should have any aircrafts. Operation and maintenance costs of an aircraft are high and Militia looks very poor beacuse they use cheap and old weapons (in my opinion).
...but if there will be, then I suggest Mi-2 Hoplite for transport and reconnaissance.
