Inaccurate and 20 second reload times for muskets FTW. If we want it a step up to realism even more, then all the players should fight in lines and no guerilla tactics allowed, lol...Saobh wrote:How about the American civil war ?
Some nice varied terrain, good mix of weapons and lots of historical battles to rediscover.
Just don't make it as crazy paced as BFPirates YAaHHArrR !!![]()
Completely Hypothetical Situation.

Rhodesian Bush War - Heli borne Rhodesian infantry, with ground based units and a few supporting jets/tanks on certain maps, fighting against ground based ZNLA and ZIPRA terrorists who lack the mobility and fire support units of the Rhodesians but have things like guided missiles and whatnot from their communist allies to redress the balance.
Angolan Border War - SADF & UNITA troops equipped with aging European equipment, along with their own designs and refurbished/updated modifications of forgein equipment fighting against Cuban, Angolan & SWAPO forces armed with older Soviet designs. I think this would make for a well balanced match up of forces in a conflict that hasn't been explored a great deal in gaming.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Falklands war would get boring after a while IMO, it would all be a bit "same-y". I'm sure there's a Napoleonic mod in production. But generally speaking any mod thats before WWI would suck, for lots of reasons.
The only theater I could see it working would be a reworked Special Forces style of play. With say a 5 minute spawn to prevent it looking like a normal Battlefield game where everyone just rushes in and gets killed.
Or maybe focusing on Special Forces operations in Vietnam.
As long as its not "run n' gun" or "bunnyhoping like **** while reloading my musket" styles of play I'd play it.

who would win in a fight, a ninja or a terrorist?

X-Com vs. Alien Scum
in all seriousness, I would tend to go for Project-Reality Historical as a spinoff - Only requirement should be that the war is over.... Korean War, or Iran/Irag war... Or 6 Day War, All lots of MEC vs. MEC-varient engagements... imagine the teamkills?
For Insurgency Mod, you could have Northern Ireland, or Various Cold-War style rebel uprisings sponsored by the superpowers in the 3rd world?

No, POE2 is a near future mod between Germany and the Ukrane as I recall, and its not a reality mod, its more of reskinned BF2.supahpingi wrote:Like Point of existence 2?
I like the idea of an Isreal based mod, you could have each of the major wars/battles as individual maps, so the equipment matches the time period correctly. Of course the one problem with this is that you cannot accurately model the complete incompetance of the Arab armies who despite out numbering the IDF 10-1 keep getting their asses handed to them.

How about something TOTALLY different ?
Modern day terrorism in the USA/UK ?
Imagine fighting amongst skyscrapers, a deserted street with blockades and strategic points.
The Terrorists (like Insurgents) could have strategic points that need blowing up etc.

I know that many will think its a close call with the terrorism thats going on, but wouldn't it be different ?
Thanks,
Sarge
