but whats so wrong about giving them a chopper, maybe with a gun but a very weak gun.

We are an Unorganized Militia.agentscar wrote:It depends on what type of militia, what kind of militia are you in Eddiereyes909?
Is it like a terrorism cell/Black Market dealing militia, like in PR?
Is it like a Federal Defense Force?
ok, well we aren't a militia we just have guns and will defend our country if we have to.
but it still counts as an unorganized Militia if i am correct

Awesome! Honestly, I didn't even dare to come up with the implementation of the Hind for the militia after the previous suggestions. But that would be just as good as the MI-8.HughJass wrote:also i heard militia is getting hind. and these guys are probably some war veterans or something so one of them should know how to pilot.
Edit: My point of view is that these guys are ex-military "businessmen" or radicals, who have connections and access to their - mostly - communist equimpent. That's why I wondered about the reason of existence for their "quite a bit" oldschool weapons like the Shpagin and the SKS. There are a lot of modified AK models, why not pick one of those?

R/C "jets"? we're trying to find a use for the militia's pilot kit.TF6049 wrote:R/C jets as bombs?
Or Cessna's as spotter planes/suicide bombs?
Cessna? It's been mentioned on the previous page... and before that too.
If you give the militia a plane, that means they have access to an airfield, which I think comes with quite an authority over that area. So they might just have a helicopter with that too. And if they would be able to afford a Cessna they DEFINATELY wouldn't use it for suicide (that's for deranged immature kids as practice shows anyway).
We're still not sure about the exact role of the militia, so I suppose some developer feedback could be helpful.
Agian, I think these guys are semi-professional, and if their goals can find a "sponsor" against other powers, an old rollout military transport heli as the Mi-8 would be affordable and most useful for them - not just in the battle. Or a Hind as non plus ultra. Just take a look at the free-militias of the late Yugoslavia: after their army has fallen to pieces, radical groups tried to salvage as much as they could with influence and contacts.

I don't think aircraft for milita is at all out of the question. All it takes is a load of money and you can buy anything you want. Just look at the Columbian Drug cartels. They almost got away with buying a Russian submarine with crew included.
Not to mention the countless aircraft they own to transport drugs into Mexico.
Anyone including you could go out and buy a MIG-21.
Having Milita that are backed by drug money is a very real world scenario.

Militias have had "authority" in many instances. Where do you think the Peoples Republic of China came from for example? Not sure if they ever had aircraft but they managed to take over China. The Zapitista have controlled south west Mexico for a fairly long time as another example.Guerilla_Frank wrote:R/C "jets"? we're trying to find a use for the militia's pilot kit.

As was mentioned on the previous page, there ARE militias with jets. A way of balancing this may be to have really crappy CAS jet(s) on the militia side with a few crappy pieces of armour and AA and plenty of armour on the other.

I think you missed my point: a helicopter is easier to maintian and to manoeuvre (vertical L/T -> reaching isolated places), thus they should be prior to aircrafts in an organization that is picted in PR. IMO we have to think in "Slavic" solutions for the militia, if the DEVs chose them to speak Russian.

How much is the Mi-8 Hip worth these days?
...About the same as a busted *** brdm-2 eh?
A small, compact, lightweight plane such as the L-5 Sentinel (or similar) (salvaged from the phillipine air force?) would be a working 'piece of ****' suitable for something they might want / be able to afford. A pilot and a spotter, exactly what it was suited for.
Besides that, it'd be unbelievably easy to maintain; same as the piper cub. (made of off-the-forest-floor materials...)
Could be plausible...

I love your signature btw.Guerilla_Frank wrote:Erm...could you please point me out the text part where I wrote militia shouldn't get a plane or a jet? And the part where I wrote militias never had strong authority over a specific area?

A half minute of Google legwork resulted in this link. Two twenty-years-old spacious helicopters for reasonable price. I figure the blackmarket has a lot more competitive prices. Let's say 150k bucks (and I might be very generous with this price) for a fairly equipped rusty transport heli with mounted MMGs. Deal of the year for them.
