PR Freezes

I've followed the installation instructions, have all the latest drivers (including Punkbuster), and yet every now and then PR just freezes and never recovers. The sound will do a never ending 1 second loop and the game will just freeze, I've let it sit for an hour once to see if it could recover and it does not.

I play a few other BF2 mods as well as other games and never have this problem with them. I tried out vBF2 for an hour and nothing happened with that either. I'm running 2 gigs ram, amd athlon 64 X2 4200, Geforce 7200 GS, on Windows XP 64 bit (Fully updated).

I've reinstalled the game and mod a few times but have had no luck. Anyone else out there have a similar problem? Anyone fix this?

I am interested in an answer too, I occasionally get little freezes in the sound. I didn´t get them before, and I think they have died down now. But, could be sound drivers? Or maybe something overheating?

It's not heat, if that was the case other programs/games would freeze as well. vBF2 never freezes so it's definitely something with PRMM.

have you tried another dowload site & you do have the latest version? sometimes those downloads just screw up.

just my opinion, i'd uninstall the pr u have now, go download from another site.

Nope, haven't tried that. Got any d/l link recommendations? The PR I downloaded was a Torrent they're usually reliable I guess you never know.

well , theres lots of good ones, may not even been the problem, but worth a try. i downloaded this one couple months ago, i think theres a patch since then

OK, tried that and had no luck. I reinstalled BF2 also and it still crashes. Very annoying, since it's only PR that freezes on the BF2 engine. Other mods work like champs.

when u say its crashing is it a complete crash to desktop? like no error message just boom & its gone?

and when it freezes, does it do it after you play a few minutes, or doest it not let you in/on the mapp?

sure is odd.

how about your PSU, do you know how many watts it is?

I've had similar problems with large maps like Kashan and Gulf of Oman about 3 minutes into joining the server and loading in... It clears up after a few minutes for me...

Have you checked temperature settings or possibly even tried updating relevant drivers?

The problem is in the PR Mod, the Python code, you guys can't fix it. It's a developers job to fix it ...

Like I said before it's not my temperature and all drivers are updated.

The game does not CTD it just freezes and the sound loops over and over. I run a ASUS 7600 GT but that has nothing to do with it. If BF2 and other mods run FINE and PR doesn't there is something that PR is doing that is causing this.

Hi all, had the same problem with PR freeze ups. I thought my V card was done but i could play BF2. I play BF2 under the name HoH_MADMAX and PR under =HH=MADMAX from day one. No problems until last full update and patch so I went on under HoH last night just to see what would happen,no freeze ups i can now play PR again with the user name HoH_MADMAX.But while on =HH=MADMAX i still get the freezing and sound problems

So you're suggesting my nick could be causing the trouble? Hmmm, I haven't thought of that but I'll try it. On PR I play as <<SpanishSurfer>> , maybe the <<>> is causing it to freeze somehow. How long have you been playing PR with the "updated" nick?

I have doubts that's the real problem but I'll definitely try it, you never know. Thanks for the tip.

SpanishSurfer I have been playing PR under the name =HH=MADMAX from the first day it was out .I know it sounds stupid but am play fine under HoH_MADMAX I had the same problems u had .Let me know what happens

You mean the symbols in the nickname was the problem?

I remember in GRecon the 1st one, that everbody like to use the ascII letters including me & seemed everbody was different, some could use more, some could use 2 or 3 , & then some like me could use 1 , when i put more than 1 ledtter in there it would ctd everytime. acutally crashed the server at times too.
but those were ascII letters i never though a standard symbol would do that.

SpanishSurfer that is COOL you have fix your problem I like to help out . Let me know if you find out why it does that I would rather play under =HH=MADMAX that is are clan tag HoH_MADMAX is the old tag Hammers of Hell
