battle buddies

Post by pasfreak »

i posted this in another thread, but i feel it would be better served in its own.

the "battle buddy" system.

the point of this is to encourage teamwork within close distances.

the ONE and ONLY thing people really like to do in PR is kill people.
yeah, the occasional flag capture or revive is satisfying, but when the sh*t is flying, all anyone likes to see is that blood splatter with a loud BANG.

here is the basic groundwork:
1. you need to stay within 50m of a teammate for your kills to count.
if you are outside of that range of a squadmember, when you gun someone down, they die, but you will not get any credit for killing them, and they will get a shorter spawn time.
2. if you DIE outside of 50m of a squadmember, you have a longer respawn time (vs. shorter for within 50m)

this is what people care about.
no one cares about teamwork points.
please try this out or something like it in a beta and see how it works.

how would this work for pilots?
try keeping two fast moving (especially in PR) aircraft nearby while simultaneously trying to shoot at the enemy which is shooting back at you, seems pretty unrealistic for your average pilot.

sux for them.

how often is anyone a pilot.
if anything it would be less incentive for everyone to run to the pad and grab a pilot kit so they can get the a10 and mow ppl down

maybe there can be a kit exception or something.

no thanks.
This is just another suggestion aimed at trying to force squads to work together at the expense of just making it harder for the guys who already stick together.
Now we would always have to pay attention to the distance between our squad members to make sure we don't suffer the long spawn time if we die. It wouldn't be a problem most of the time, since 50m is quite a big distance, but sometimes there are situations where you are furthen than 50m from your squad. For example if 2 members of your squad go to attack an enemy rally point while the rest of the squad is holding a flag. The other attacking guy dies, and then suddenly you are more than 50m away from the rest of the squad.

Then there is the thing with pilots, snipers and apc drivers, sometimes even tankers (though most of the time there are 2 people in a tank so this would be a pretty rare problem) being outside that 50m since that's pretty much the only way they can effectively use their vehicle/kit.

And on top of that it would make another rule that we would have to remember and think about while playing. There are already more than enough stuff we need to remember (all those rallypoint rules etc)

Just remove the scoreboard and goodbye the need-for-kills. Would also resolve alot of teamkills btw, with less trigger-happy guys.

yeah this suggestion sucks balls, i know we are all for promoting no lone wolf in PR but seriously i don't think it is something we should pretty much ban. thats just gay im not a massive fan of all the rules in PR so what if some nub wants to walk off by himself he is going to do it any way

Personally I like the scoreboard. Hell...remove the kills from the scoreboard if you like.

If people have points they are usually doing SOMETHING right!

On the other-hand just because you might have zero points doesn't mean your not being useful or doing something for the team (guarding an extreme flank).

The idea of shorter spawn times is a bit...random and not good (and I die alot lol)
