5 Basic Infantry Rules

Post by Army Musician »

#1) When laying down fire, fire single shot rounds, every few seconds or bursts of 3, not full Auto, because while you are reloading you will get shot and run out of ammo very quickly. Preserve your ammunition. Also when someone is receiving medical attention, lay down fire and protect them.

#2) Never run into one of your teammates line of fire. If you can see your teammates firing and you are comming towards them or you are in the same section and you want to go over to the other side of him. Do not go across his line of fire if he is firing, you will mostly get hit and he done for a TK, you punish him and it ruins the game.

#3) Whenever the enemy chucks a grenade at you, HIT THE DECK, go to ground straight away and preferably behind cover, that way you probably wont get killed. Because if you are standing or Kneeling, you will most likely get your head removed by a piece of shrapnel.

#4) If advancing or retreating, lay down fire and smoke to cover your advance or retreat, basically refer to #1 when advancing or retreating. Cover fire of a few rounds and fall back (or advance). Basically never advance with out covering fire where there is fighting.

#5) Always have a squad that has at least 1x Medic, 2x Rifleman and Engineer and Support (LMG or LSW) gunner

By playing by these rules it will not only keep you alive you will be able to cover ground quickly and take control points and also Teamwork is paramount, basically letting you teammates know you are advancing, so they can give you covering fire. Also if the medic is wounded, take his kit and heal him, if it means you lose your officer kit then tough. Finally you and your squad/section stay alive and are able to stay effective in winning the battle.

It improves you score at the end of the round

6) Synchronize grenade volleys. Toss 3 or four at the same time.

8) When your squad's medic goes down, PICK UP his kit and revive him when it is possible. That way if the whole squad goes down, you still have a medic kit to revive the SL.

Actually I'm not sure how valid this is. If you happen to be next to a ledge or rock, and proning puts you behind the rock, then perhaps that would save you from a grenade. But generally grenades don't care if you are standing, crouching, or proning. All they care about is your distance from them. So, imo, if the enemy chucks a grenade at you, don't hit the deck, run!

That's the case in most BF games to date, AFAIK, and most FPSs I have played, so I guess that you are right unless the PR team have specifically changed the explosive modelling to have a more sophisticated 3D effect.

The most effective way to evade a grenade is to jump out and shoot the guy in the face, while he's pulling the pin

Are you serious on this one :) . For retreating smoke is good, but there is nothing that I love more then an enemy attacking through there own smoke lol. Gotta love that, they can't see sh*t and you can see their silhouette clearly. Now what IS useful in an attack is throwing smoke away from the area you are going to cross, or ON the enemy position.

That's what I was thinking.

what if your in the prone position and grenade lands in front of you?

well standard procedure is to jump 20 meters into the air and scatter yourself over a large area.

This thread is reminding me of VBF2 and its grenade pwnage (shudder) i once saw 2 squads not sing weapons but insted launching grenade after grenade as there support guy reloaded them.

Infantry Basic Drill

The Basic Drill is what all individual soldiers should do by instinct if they come under "effective fire".

*It goes as follows:

*run two or three steps
*drop to the ground or into cover and provide indirect suppresive fire in the general direction of the enemy
*crawl a few yards (or move under concealment/cover)
*observe
*shoot (identified targets of opportunity within effective range)
*move
*observe
*shoot
*move
*repeat until issued orders

The basic drill is designed to get a soldier into cover, move him from the last position where they were likely to be seen by the enemy, and get him engaging any targets within range that he can see. For example, to provide a few simple steps for him to follow under stress that will keep him alive and positively engaged until his commander makes an appreciation and issues instructions. '''Note:''' Different armies tend to have different variants of this method, but the main objective is still the same: To keep a soldier alive during the first seconds of combat stress.

when a nade is thrown at you, if you are near a wall go prone and get your head as close to the wall as your can, its to do with the hitbox if your head is in the wall you take the least amount of damage
