But it's still harder to aim with the weapon swaying. ;)

Missing out on what exactly? That is not weapon sway, that's the 1st person weapon model moving around the screen. Bullets still come out of the center of the screen. I'm not bad mouthing satnav, he's a genius. But what you see in that video is half a step towards proper weapon sway.

Sway is one of our main goals but it's also one of the most difficult.

I think all anyone was asking for was purely the look of it swaying, unless the real deal was possible.

But i thought it was hard coded, as much say as the squad system. Therefore you were no longer putting effort into to trying to add sway - weren't waisting time on the impossible. But your comments suggest it might not be intiely impossible, so?????????

If it is impossible i would, as i said before, like to see this VISUAL effect (weapon moving around screen) becuase i think it add so much to the feel that your character in a real person rather than a single point in space with a video camera.
HOWEVER if there is the possiblity of adding sway, such a visual addition should be delaying until both it and sway can be added together - seperate additions of this and then, some time later sway, might be seen as confusing - players might think sway has been added when it has not OR would not realize it has when it is added.

SO - sway, is there any hope?

Ooo sexy! I can't wait to see if that can get implemented!

*slightly off topic*
did anyone see that other video after the one that was posted earlier about the dynamic objects in BF2

dunno if it's *real* or not, but I quite like the tank + tree combination.

I guess that would create lots of lag on a full server.

Ah, I see.

I still think it looks really weird though. Especially with this picture:

Yeah it is weird, when you zoom into the scope, it's all black surrounding the scope. It is best to wait and see, weapon "sway" is far from being refined and made well.

I do think something like the sway would be cool, because BF2's iron sights suck terribly. Anyone who's fired a real gun knows that you don't put your eye a centimeter behind the rear sight.

Anyway, it'd add a nice touch, as lots of times I find myself with my sights up, but pointed slightly down, so the bitmap doesn't eclipse my entire screen. It's especially bad with the M16s and normal G3s.

are there any plans to make the sights on guns smaller in PR?
pistols seem o.k. right now...
scopes are fine.

its the assault rifles i'm concerned about
stuff with reflex/iron sights.

Not really since we can't change the vBF2 ones. AFAIK the M16A4 ironsights will use the vBF2 2d model but the 3d part (ie: the front post) will be from Katarns beautiful model which is precisely 86754 times less retarded, easier to use and better looking.

Or uh....I could make all new rear sights. That don't suck. Yeah, that would be awesome.

Sounds like a plan. Do they have to be 2D or are 3D sights more plausible?

well even tho the trees on that movie would lag the server alot, i do like that crane trick... would be nice to see more destructible buildings, bridges, objects in game.

for example... i would really like to blow a bridge from below on one of its columns instead of having to put the C4 on top and only blow one square at a time. If i would blow a column of a bridge it would probably collapse much more then one little square. And the one on Sunset City on the PLA side is even more stupid since you can do all you want but the bridge will still be usable.

Firstly: is this a 3D iron site. I think it is but i am not sure.

We can all agree the BF2v iron sites are far from fully realistic but are the only plans merely just to improve the front post?

I fully understand that the huge amount of work require to produce 3d iron sites but also, does any one know the affect on performance such can have (many many times more pixels)?

In past discussions, i got the idea that 3d iron sites were not an option becuase of the reduction in performance they can cause.

I would love this not be true becuase such a reason totaly rules out 3d iron sites or even more detailed 2d sites. While producing such being a massive amount of work, does not entiely rule such out, just makes the chance of it being implemented low.
