mines can't be burried or explode when soldier walks on it

Post by MikeDude »

my idea was too let people burry their mines
and also that it explodes when people walk
over it just like in real.. and also that
a kit can locate the mines so you can save
your whole squad.

tell me what you think about this idea

anti tank mines need something heavier than a person to walk over it to set it off.

oh and burying mines have been discussed many many times before, use the search function and dig up some of these old threads.

mines are one of the reason airpower is so useful in real life.

When to be hurt, you know you have hostiles in the area?

as apposed to mines which are fire and forget?

might i suggest that there is a squad deployable "mound of dirt" they'd be free and limited per squad and deployed by a squad leader, you can dump it on a mine and hide it (but the mine can still detonate as the mound has no hitbox)

as for detecting a mine? and anti infantary mines?

Not that interesting or useful to this idea, but i know if behind enemy territory mines or no mines, a mound of dirt would be useful in slowing enemys through fear.

Also IED's could be hidden in the mounds, if their colour could be set by map?

If not make it a list

deploy mound->

Nah they tend to use a guy on the side of the road with wires between him and the device.

Well it's debatable.

I was reading or watching somethign about Anti tank mines a few days ago and it said they needed such a weight (each one is probably different). But I remember at least one of the weights being enough for a fully geared soldier to trigger it.

If we cant bury the mines, lets make it so the mine is invisible to the ennemy team, and visible to our allys.
And if the ennemy uses a metal detector on it, it becomes visible to all.

ah another thing that would be cool is that we can spot the mines. or spot bunkers and realypoints. and support trucks when nobody is inside it

I'm surprised no one else noticed this suggestion. This has to be the simplest yet best solution to hiding mines. Burying mines isn't all that realistic as players would be able to bury them in pavement (And the engine can't tell the difference between dirt, rock and pavement), and invisible mines is an absolutely stupid suggestion if you ask me.

However, placing a small mound of dirt over the mine might be the best alternative. It could still be somewhat noticeable if you know what you're looking for, but a mound of dirt isn't something a lot of people might catch their eyes on. I would suggest giving the engineers a mine detector or something that would highlight friendly and enemy mines when nearby.

In any case though, I'd make it so that by shoveling the mine, a mound of dirt appears over it (rather than deploying some dirt).

In any case, brilliant idea Heliocentric.

you will reconise the mud because its one texture,, if you are in desert and you see mud you think like wtf mine.

But what if said pile of mud with mine in it is one of dozens of others without it. Russian tank roulette.

Who said anything about mud. I'm thinking it would simply look like a mound of sand, which would more or less look like the sand texture on the sandbag walls and firebases, as shown below.

It's a lot easier to notice a big black disk siting in the middle of the open, but a small mound of sand might not be as much as players may simply believe it's apart of the terrain. Though the overall idea would be to make it noticeable to some degree, and if a driver happens to suspect the pile of sand as being a mine, well more power to them.

Have the Mines sink into the ground half way like a pkm pickup kit, and have a wide but shallow disk of dirt you can shovel. If the mound was textured the same as the ground in mestia, it would work and you could spot it if you looked hard enough, because some grass may stick out in from the terrain but not the disk.
