Some are not realizing what the OP meant. I don't think he wanted to remove vehicles from the game, he merely wanted to see more emphasis on infantry instead of vehicles.

I do strictly grunt work, so I would like to see another map similar to street but on most maps I like the feeling of having armour or air power there to back me up

No... much of the appeal in BF2 comes from the vehicles. Maps like Mestia get pretty boring with their emphasis on infantry (since so many other games do just that.)

If you're a hardcore inf player I don't understand why you would buy BF2.

But with only 32 people per side if you add vehicles theres not alot of people on the ground fighting.

If you have 2 tanks, 1 APC and 1 Attack helicopter thats 8 people. Take those 8 out of the 32 and now your down to 24 people fighting on the ground.

I didnt read all the replies, (sry was in hurry)wanted to throw my opinion in on this one, but how can it be a reality mod with no vehicles? i get killed by them and it suks but it is better than IO IMO.
why not just let servers that want too run IO , and others run vehicles, just like vanilla servers do?

Why would that matter? why not have another tank , apc or chopper as well? why do those other 24 ppl have to fight as infantry? This is what I'm talking about I would like to see maps with more variety aside from infantry only or maps where vehicles support infantry. Why not have more maps that focus on armour or air power? Dare I say it but the problem would be solved easily by making tanks and apc's 1 manable again ( runs away)

Strange thing about this poll is, I think PR does focus more on infantry now than it used to. Just in the kinds of maps that get played a lot. Lots of maps without heavy vehicles, and PR has scaled back on heavy vehicles especially jets. When you play maps like Hills, Mestia, Phoenix, even Qwai, it ends up being mainly an infantry thing.

Well the upcomign crop of maps will have alot of both..

we have a major combined arms map coming as well as at least 2 large cities and a couple inbetween APC type maps...

I think we will see some of the most epic INF spaces ever seen in bf2 or any associated mods in .7 or possibly .8 ....

I personally like infantry fighting in PR BUT weapon accuracy is far too high for it to be truly enjoyable.. no to mention popping up and shooting dead on...although...

Yeah, Assault rifles are way too accurate.
I dont think its quite the same IRL, as you can chose to shoot someone in the head or not from 250, just because juu has an ACOG.
The only point in the SVD is an extra few 100 meters of range, at the cost of fully auto.

Anyone with service experience can consider this BS if they want, since i have never served in any armed forces or been 'in the shit'.
But, from what iv seen from home made vids from soldiers posted on the int3rwebz (A very reliable source, as we all know :roll :) , thats pretty much how it is. About 24 people, 2 tanks a bit in front of them and a chopper circling overhead, allot of radio banter then a volley of outgoing or incoming shots.

Well, you could say that about 5 of these skirmishes are going on at once on an RL battlefield, but whats the difference because you would only be seeing the one your involved in, giving the impression that you are 1/5 of these skirmishes.

I much prefer combined arms IF the game is played properly and the armor / air is used as transport or support. Don't really appreciate those hot dogers out there using assets simply to roam around looking for something to kill while the squad I'm in is pinned down by an APC and could desperately use some heavy weapon support.

And PRM isn't limited to 32 players per side. It simply restricts you to 32 players per side and six active players in a squad on the field at any given time. It emulates reinforcements / larger squads with re-spawnings so basically you have unlimited man power.

Just my .02 worth.

A larger scale street would be nice with more flags for Inf only but keep the vehicles on other maps, the balance is good on the whole.

90% of the time in PR you are on foot and not in vehicles, so, I guess PR 90% sucks so much then. Unless you stay in tanks and choppers all the time, then why do you even play this sucky mod? ???

the simple answer is that either go play another mod with Infantry focus, or dont play Battlefield at all

theres a reason battlefield is so sucessful, because it combines infantry armour and air, want infantry combat? go play Insurgency or CS:S
