most viechles implemented by the british and american armies have automatic
gearboxes so thats a suggestion just for the MEC and chinese armies.

Well i've sat in a Current British Tank, and that didn't have an automatic gearbox.
I'm sure UK_Hussar will confirm.
For wheeled APC's it would be good if there was a "torque" mode, but alas we are subject to the nasty BF2 terrain, where the "locking the wheels in the limited slip differential" for those 6 wheeled APC's i don't think is possible. I've heard this comment for a long while from a long term RL driver/commander of wheeled APC's and no sign of that possibility yet.

What about the throttle, brake and clutch?Fearosius wrote:I searched and searched and looked at the 'Already Suggested Suggestions' thread and could fine NO suggestion that was identical or similar to my suggestion.
I think the DEVS should implent a gear system on vehicles, I don't know if the Marines or the Chinese use manual control on their jeeps/apcs/tanks, etc. or automatic so please exuse me. The reason why I suggest this is as when I'm driving in a humvee for example, I always hear my gears change if I go faster or slower, and since driving is simple in PR (W,A,S,D) why don't we make it harder. I don't think designated drivers IRL, can learn how to drive an expensive vehicles in a few seconds.
The gear system works like this: When you first enter a fresh, just respawned vehicle, it will be stuck on 'P' (Park). Park stops the vehicles from falling down terrain, just like in IRL.
If you want to reverse, you would press 'down arrow key' to change the gear from 'P' to 'R' (reverse) and when in 'R', you would reverse just like you'd do in PR.
If you want to go into gear 1 from 'P', you would hit the 'up arrow key' to go into that gear. Same thing from 1st to 2nd gear, 3rd, etc. gear. If you would want to go down into another gear you would press the 'down arrow key' in order to do so. To tell which gear you are in, there will be a particular letter sitting where your ammo counter is that tells you which one you are in.
Now, I don't know how many gears a BTR-90 has or Nanjing, so I guess I have to find some research, or I could just count the gears each vehicle has in PR.
This idea will force drivers to think instead of rolling down the Kashan Desert thinking they are on the Californian coasts. To some extent, it will stop 1-man teams from 'stealing' them, seeing the ignornace in them, they will probably think that its 'broken'.
Please give me some feedback - Post your thoughts.

As we can all see the suggestion has been made before so this thread is going to be locked. Any further discussion you want to make can be done in one of the older threads, thank you.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!
