Update Hud

Post by pasfreak »

Sprint bar-

should only show up when you get low on sprint.

currently, we sprint all the time, and its just another thing that pops up.

or maybe we could eliminate it....i actually don't see a need for the sprint bar.

Ammo counter-

only show up while reloading. I never look at the thing other than while I'm reloading, unless I see it in my peripheral vision as a distraction

It is an important feature- IRL you know how much ammo you carry w/u , but Its just another thing on the "HUD" that isn't supposed to really exist.

These are small things, I know, and you guys have done a great job so far on simplifying the HUD (compared to BF2), but every little bit counts.

and as always, more work on eliminating text spam is appreciated.
Thx!

Im not sure what your point is, but PR-Team has done a great job on the Huds in my opinion.. so what is your actual suggestion ?

seeing the sprint bar is pretty usefull, it helps you estimate if you can run across that street. And if you start crossing the street and your sprint runs out then you are an easy target. So it's pretty usefull, though I guess if it would come up when you have less than 50% left it would be good enough. But I really don't think it needs to be changed.

As for the ammo counter, it's pretty usefull too. And I really do want to know how many mags I have left BEFORE I reload. And anyway, the ammo counter is extremely small so it shouldn't distract you that much.

I say yes to seeing the sprint only when you have a little spring left, because IRL you can only tell if you're tired if you're tired.

I want to keep the mags as they are currently though.

agreed about the sprint bar but dunnno how possible it is to change.

also it'd be nice to only keep the number and remove the backgrounds (when you have transparency up to 100% you can notice this)

i agree that the less amount of 2D information on the screen the better.

Right now I think the biggest distractions is the minimap and the constant text

My advise is: Leave the Ammo Counter, it's very pretty and also realistic. But take out that stupid Sprint bar... it's really usless. I think you would notice it when you can't sprint anymore (by the breath). Besides it's unrealistic ;)

I have faith in your influence, Fuzz.
Away with the minimap, and the ingame score-board too. 8-)
And altough i find the chat too usefull, hopefully we'll see less text in the future as well. Hate that "page up/down"-spammage.

bjoffe to help with spam you can disable voting...

yes text spam is a big problem currently, we know.... its on the design table to remove any kind of text thats not essential (moving kit request to other HUD elements) but still no breakthroughs on it...

Not a bad sugestion, sprint bar is unrealistic and since sprints are much longer now, its not needed as much as it was. So i say get rid of it. keep ammo though, its really helpfull and it is realistic in the sense you would always know how many mags you have left.
