Permission to Link

Post by Titus »

Hello Reality Mod,

I would like to request permission to link to and from your site and put up a disciption and banner of your Mod on the front page. Please send me the info and Banner if this is ok. I have been checking it out and it rather interesting.

What kind of webpage would you be linking to us from?

Personally, I don't see why there would be a problem with it but, dont take my word for it, wait until someone that has the authority to say so comes along.

There is a small rotating banner on the top right side of the PR main page, which says link to us. Personaly I take this to mean you can save or copy the image, put it in your site and attach a link through it. As far as I know the PR team don't mind having links on other pages. It is only when requesting to host PR files that you need permission. Clarification of these points would be nice as I believe you will find a number of sites hosting links, which can only benefit the community and team by directing more users to the mod.

Should be perfectly fine Titus. This would be for battlefield2arena right?

For those who don't know that site, Titus posted about it somewhere in the forums here. You could do a search.

In any case, you can use the banner DAWG is speaking of.
Image
Please link the banner to our site. (As in you click on it and end up on http://www.realitymod.com.)

Same goes for a description, it's fine. In fact you're free to say what you want about the mod, as long as you don't spread lies. ;)

The only things that require permission are: Using PR material, such as renders etc. and hosting PR files such as the Mini-Mod.

Cool webpage Titus. You host that yourself?

You should also check into maybe hosting our Mini-Mod file. If it's ok with the developers I think it would be a great benifactor for both Project Reality and Battlefield2 Arena.

Cya around. Can't wait to see how you implement our little ad into your webpage. 8-)

It's perfectly fine. ;)

EDIT: Oh, one thing. Just checked if you had added Project Reality to the list of mods on your site but you hadn't. Don't know if you're planning to do that but I thought I should remind you.

Thanks.

First off, I'de like to point out that you did an awesome job with the linking to Project Reality.

Secondly, that map-pack is UNOFFICIAL. The map-pack was constructed by a fellow community member, not by the Project Reality development team. Wether or not that matters to you, I dont know, I just thought I'de fill you in incase you were not aware. Also, you may want to give the compiler of the map-pack the credit, not the Project Reality Development team. Also, the Maps themselves were not developed by the Project Reality Development team. Please make sure that this is clear.

Also on the map note, a good majority of the links to the maps are broken.

Thirdly, the link to the download of Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 Rev.1 is ok but you should probably let people know that they MUST have the original PRmm installed FIRST, before they download and install the Rev.1...We don't want people thinking that our mod is broken. My opinion, Link to the Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 and add a note that there has been an update called Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 Rev.1 and is a required installment to play online.

Last but not least, your news update of the 1.2 patch from EA Games. I cannot seem to find that news update ANYWHERE on the TotalBF2.com webpage or forums. Plus, the Link to the source is broken. This needs attention ASAP.

Anyways, thanks again for the spot on your front page!

I think you could call it official, just as long as you don't say the PR team are making the maps themselves because that is not true. Of course maps are being made, just not for this specific map pack.

Oh I know that Wolf but, that doesn't make it official. By official im referring to something that was constructed and released by the Project Reality Development Team. That map-pack is unofficial based on that referrence. We may host the download for it here on the forums but, that still doesn't make it something that was created by the Project Reality Team.

I just hope that not too many servers plan on putting these maps into rotation because personally, I dislike all the maps in it.. :|

Even Strike at Karkand 2 sucks for me..Its too...Big? Not enough players to effectively utilize the maps "fun-factor", if you will..

Strike At Karkand 2 is awesome! Beautiful map! Unfortunately limited numer of players is a seriuos problem. IMHO you should try harder to advertise your great mod...

Hey, that's just me man. I'm a little picky sometimes. No offense to anyone who made any of the maps or what not.

Titus,

If you have a server I beleive you can download the file and upload it yourself. Or I believe you can just link directly to the download page. Linking directly to a download itself can slow servers down. I personally do not know if that is an issue here but I just thought I'de mention it.

The downloads page is located here: http://totalbf2.filecloud.com/files/file.php?user_file_id=84673

If you scroll down to the bottom of that webpage you will notice the 3 Different files. There is Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.1, Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 and then Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 Rev.1...

They must be downloaded and installed in that order, resulting in the Rev.1 as the 3rd installment.

NOTE - Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 Rev.1 IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE EA GAMES 1.12 PATCH!

Project Reality Mini-Mod 0.2 Rev.1 is a HOTFIX which successfully fixed the errors that occured, for all of the Project Reality players, after the 1.12 patch was released.

If any of this is unclear please don't hesitate to ask.

Will do Titus. ;)

Of course you could start with the new update on the front page (http://www.realitymod.com) about the Computer Games magazine article about Project Reality.
