[Proposal] French Foreign Legion

Perhaps this would make a good community faction. The Famas is already in game. French is already a language in the game. The only thing needed would be the player models, but even then, a quick re-skin of the EU spec ops and medic would do. What do you all think of this idea?

I think there is a mod called airborn that got a french faction
You could contact them like some dudes did to the Rising conflicts

Also you would need to list wich vehicles they use and wich weapons (variant's) would they have

Suport, marksman, sniper, scoped and non scoped main rifle etc...

and do you think that we care what you think of the french? please leave your personal comments to yourself.

back on topic. FFL would be a nice addition since the famas is already in game and all it would take is a reskin of the EF characters. But I'm not sure what vehicles they use.

A while ago I played the demo Code of Honor: The French Foreign Legion. It was about the French Foreign Legion in a fictional conflict against African militias/rebels set in Africa... African militia for PR anyone?

You can download the demo here. When I first played it, it seemed like BF2, like the ironsights of the AK-74 were close up, like the AK-101, AK-47 in BF2. Google the game/demo for more info.

I heard somewere that the french forign legion wasnt made up entirely of frenchies, can some one tell me if this is right?

back to topic, Id like to see the french forign legion in PR, and using the Famas would just be plain kick *** lol

There are no French nationals in the French Foreign Legion. They are all American(even former Marines), British or whoever else that wants to join. Anyone can join the FFL(French Foreign Legion)from any country. You can even join the legion as a criminal and they will wipe your slate clean and give you a new name. The purpose of all of this is to give the French government a military force to throw around without worry of public backlash. But this does have its problems, in the 60's i believe it was, the FFL actually tried to kill the French PM/President and other government officials in a attempt to over throw the government. Ever since then the FFL has no bases inside of France so in conclusion the FFL ARE NOT FRENCH!!

Ironcomatose, please check your sources before you start posting.
1) There are a bunch of French nationals in the Foreign Legion
2) It has a bunch of bases in France
3) As far as I know, they have never tried to stage a coup. They're a rather small unit, and there's no way they could pull it of on their own.

808-SLUGGO, keep your opinions about the French to yourself, since they don't add anything to the thread.

^^^^^^^^^^^Got that off of google. I doubt that the military channel was wrong.

The rest of the Legion is made up of men from a wide variety of nationalities, with French citizens representing 60% of the Legionnaires. The foreign volunteers are primarily European."
^^^^^^^^Read that carefully. Most of the Legions officers are French but even then 10% are former legionnaires. So ok you got me on that one but MOST of the grunts are not French(in the show i saw there was even a Cambodian).

Yes, but that's only one regiment. The uprising wasn't started by the Foreign Legion, they were only a part of it.

60% of the Legionaires are French citizens, though I'm not sure whether they were born that way, or just got that by being in the Legion.

Also, they now run background checks to prevent criminals from joining.

FFL is not a conventional army so they could fight insurgents or militia. It would be great to have 2 unconventional forces fighting each other. For the change of pace. We could use American voices if they are mostly not French.
I wonder how they look like (army uniforms or just like Blackwater casual looking guys with guns).

If devs think this is a good idea I would volunteer to make this faction

I think it'd be sweet to have the FFL in, if not just becasue the Famas is by far my favourite gun

But IMO, what PR really needs atm is more "Team 1" factions, like an African militia or something.
Another thing might be that any more factions will make the download even more HUGE!

But if you can gather a community mod team, and get the green light from the devs, than I'd say go for it

You're bordering so close to racism here I'm still not sure I'm not going to issue a warning. Keep your Francophobia to yourself, and not here on the forums. The French have contributed greatly to Western culture, both contemporary and through to the end of the Dark Ages. If you have a problem with them because they didn't join a war that even most people in your own country think should not have occurred, then you have some issues.

I rly like the FAMAS so i agree whe should get anything french in it!
And @ jayceon:The most are not french but if ur joining the legoin they will teach u french.so they dont speak english.
And zazzo,what does it matter if it gets bigger?
Its worth the download!If u have a 65k connection and it takes to long...U cant even play bf2 online so why should u need it?
And if this will be developed,take the IDF comunity mod team as an example and make an african militia faction( or anyone else wants to do this?)

Thing is, the FFL are a conventional force. They're part of the French Army (after the attempted coup and the disbandment of the 1st REP the FFL was absorbed into the French army and ceased to exist as an indipendent force.)

They might not have the best quality equipment in the French army (many are still issued with the old F1 FA-MAS which in "regular" FA units is reserved for rear echelon troops, though they still possess a significant number of the latest G2s) but they are very much an integrated part of teh FA, with infantry, air assault armor and artillery units.

I've long been of the opinion that the French would make an interesting addition to PR and support any community effort to bring them in.
