Supply Crates (Pickup and Drop) by Helicopter

Post by Tikigod »

Can supply crates be delivered by transport helicopters?

Example:

1.Supply crate object spawns at base every 1, 2, 5, 10 minutes.

2. Transport Helicopter must fly to crate to load it. (the crate disappears when it loads into chopper. This reloads the transport chopper with 1 fake ammo loadout (a deployable crate that drops out of the back)

3. Once rearmed the transport helicopter pilot (or rear passenger) can right click and drop 1 resupply crate out the back.

4. This is a breakable crate (and does not have a parachute ) which means it will require great care when dropping (So, if the chopper is higher than 2-5 feet the crate falls and breaks) Less than 2-5 feet the crate remains in tact for infantry to use.

5. The crate remains intact until it breaks apart (from being used up).

This will give a better role for the transport helicopter (which rarely is used in most games) and allows people who like to fly a new minigame in resupplying the front lines with either medical supplies, ammo, or kits.

Types of crates that can be dropped:

-Medical crate (heals units like a medpack who stand next to it)
-Ammo crate (rearms units who stand next to it)
-Kit crates (allows people to swap kits)

Good idea. Kind of like Forgotten Hope but those were from planes. I like it. It'd be faster than supply drops and will justify the transport hellis. I'm not saying transporting supply crates should be the main role but I can't see why it shouldn't be secondary.

Why wouldn't DICE have retained the ability to drag objects from Battlefield 1942 to Battlefield 2? Really, it shouldn't be so hard to add some kind of towing system, but I'm sure EA had some say in its removal.

I think the idea would require the heli itself to be the thing rearming, healing, etc with no passengers since all the space is taken up and to stop it being too powerfull
