I can read the month on the side of the mag. What page is it on though. I probably just skimmed by and missed it.

'[R-PUB wrote:GRB']Well...I think scanning it would be bad for the magazine. Because then no one will have to buy it to see the ad. Thus causing the mag. to lose sales.

I think you should all buy it if you havn't already. Wolf, someone could always buy it for you, then mail it to you. Or you could order it online and have it mailed to you.

I think the point in (or agreement) having Project Reality in the magazine is an attempt to increase sales for the mag. and downloads for PR...Correct me if im wrong but, isn't that how business is done? 8)
You are correct.

There’s a fine line between “fair use” and violating a copyright. Most people don’t realize how easy it is to get permission to reproduce something. Email the magazine’s customer service and ask to reproduce the article in a non-profit forum. They may say yes. Since the article specifically mentions PRMM, I doubt they would put up a fuss. Or they may say no, tell those deadbeats to go online and subscribe to our magazine.

Often you will see written a disclaimer saying, "Any unauthorized reproduction is not allowed, blah blah." That disclaimer should be displayed on the product or article if that’s the intent of the manufacturer. However, after the international Copyright agreement in the late 80’s (someone can Google that, I don’t have time right now) basically everything has a copyright, whether marked or not. Charging for reproduction only affects the amount of damages to the manufacturer.

If you quote from an article/book to support your own original ideas, you are ok. For example a research paper or debate. That’s different. As long as you note the source and don’t claim their ideas as your own. Quoting from fiction is a gray area though. I won’t go there.

Fact is many copyright violations occur everyday. It’s not in most companies best interest to run around and pursue these. Most actually benefit from the added publicity but that still does not make it right.

HI

The article is on pg 82, "Computer Games" magazine, Feb. issue. It is slightly less than a half page piece found in the "Mods and Ends" section of the magazine.

Not wanting to overstep my bounds with the developers and PRMM team, I understand the desire for people to buy the magazine for the article so I wont scan it and post but will provide a short synopsis. If this is unacceptable, just delete the content, it would be understandable as you have put great effort into this mod. Anyway, enough *** kissing.

--------------------------------------------
The Reality Mod has the "spotlight" this month in the Mods and Ends section of Computer Games magazine. Of the big three gaming magazine's in the US, (PC Gamer, Computer Gaming World and Computer Games) Computer Games appears (to me) to be published (both in writing style and overall layout) with a more "mature" flavor, void of the "teen-fan boy-"tee heeing"" common in PC Gamer and Computer Gaming World. Just a subjective perception to point out that of all three major mags, "Computer Games" may attract the type of BF2 player that will appreciate the PRMM in a way that promotes team work, cooperation and a slower, more methodical tactical approach. So, if positioning the Reality Mod interview-review was a decision made by the PRMM Dev Team, good choice.

The article begins by pointing out the current dearth of promised or available mods for BF2 and differentiates the Reality Mod from the pack by emphasizing the attention to detail and the development teams consultation with British soldiers. At least one of whom is currently serving in Iraq.
(from one appreciative American, thank you for your support and service)

Lead developer Jason Dooley provides quotes throughout the article regarding the intention and goals for the Reality Mod including the dev. teams attention to finding “a middle ground” between playability and reality. Dooley goes on to point out that while using the Reality Mod, players will find themselves having to restrain themselves from automatically returning fire or playing as the lone wolf-run and gunner.

“Players will find out that taking cover first and analyzing their surroundings will keep them from getting killed.”

In addition to information regarding the intention and goals for the mod, the article points out some of the “hardware” added to the Reality Mod including various armored vehicles, helicopters and “highly detailed British infantry, sniper, and SAS soldier models.”

I hope that this is an accurate and concise summary of the Computer Games article while still encouraging the purchase of the magazine.

By the way, I still dont know what the hell a "fan boy" is. I read this term often in computer gaming mags and forums. Whatever they are or whatever it is, I hope I am not one, I am fairly certain that I am not.

a "Fan Boy" is usualy someone that picks something and refuses to believe anything else is better/exists... well something like that.. It's like saying BF2 is the best online game ever and no matter how many facts you could recieve telling you otherwise.. you would still stick by BF2 blindly (just an example.. I like BF2) .. that's pretty much a "Fan Boy" ... Another example would be someone who say.. liked X-box over PS2.. or vice-versa. Had no real reason.. but would defend it to the very end..

No wonder I couldn't find it, after looking at this thread again I noticed the correction that it's not in PC Gamer but in Computer Games magazine. Sorry for the trouble, but thanks Casperrrr for the info. I'll have to buy a copy next time I'm at work.

Thank you, that's pretty much all I needed to know. I'll see whether I try to get the magazine somehow. ;)
