one thing in pr i think is utterly useless is the deployable sandbags...
first of all the blow up WAY to easily secondly have a commander run around putting down sandbags it just a waste of time.
what i think we could do to fix it would be to give the SLs like 2 deployable sandbags that cant be destroyed but instead a enemy rifleman or engi can come up and use the shovel on it. also possible make it less bulky. and make it easier to build. like lets say 10 seconds.
these ideas could give the game a good twist. making some old maps new just because this place that was once open now has cover for you to hide behind.
also i think there should be a radar ping for commanders basicly its a uav that last for about 1 sec. it would allow commanders get a feel of the enemy position without screwing over the enemy team. possible have a recharge time of like 10 mins.

Agreed, they should take more damage. But, they ares till useful for flat terrain (such as desert, field, or opening to a wall)imaword wrote:one thing in pr i think is utterly useless is the deployable sandbags...

I don't like the limiting idea. But, the idea of having enemy engineers and infantry shovels to be the only ones to remove them is a very good. I think enemy C4 should be able to destroy them as well.imaword wrote: what i think we could do to fix it would be to give the SLs like 2 deployable sandbags that cant be destroyed but instead a enemy rifleman or engi can come up and use the shovel on it.
I like the size as it is.imaword wrote: also possible make it less bulky.
10 seconds is too fast. I like building stuff. I don't think there is enough to build. Usually when I get done building...I'm like this sucks...I want to build more stuff.imaword wrote: and make it easier to build. like lets say 10 seconds.
I think what you want is more permanent structures overall, not just sandbags. Which I agree, there should be more structures that are harder to destroy. The enemy should have to get in and up close and personal to remove the asset you spent so much time constructing. Being able to destroy these assets with just a few shots is very frustrating and not much of a challenge for the other team (at long range).imaword wrote: these ideas could give the game a good twist. making some old maps new just because this place that was once open now has cover for you to hide behind.
A bunker for instance, is the only real building you can build right now for protection. I don't think it should break apart with a few tank rounds or a strategically placed tv guided missle. In real life yes this might happen. But, in real life you would be building larger and more robust bunkers and defenses.
I like the structures for the most part as they are now. They could be tweaked a little to take more damage or like you say require shovels, C4, etc to destroy.
I'd liek to see maybe new structures introduced that you can construct like the concrete pillbox that protects you from artillery and tank rounds in the Midway Island Map. Something like that would be more permanent than sandbags and offer better protection.
I also think these structures should protect you from hits from the outside but, if someone gets lucky and gets a shot through a window, etc with a HEAT round it would kill everyone inside but, leave the structure standing.
I'm not sure about this idea. My biggest thing against satellite and UAV scans is they aren't realistic. UAV's and Satellites would never be able to pick out a well concealed sniper. They also wouldn't be able to see through buildings and any other place not visible from the sky. Even with one second you would be able to spot these type of concealed targets. People like myself spend alot of time trying to find the perfect strategic spot to kill enemy. If I spend alot of time hiding I want the enemy to find my visually not with some sort of pinging mechanism that reveals my hiding spot. (in wet damp forests, yeah you could use thermal imaging but, there are ways to combat this, and thermal doesn't work through thick concrete buildings such as bunkers)imaword wrote: also i think there should be a radar ping for commanders basicly its a uav that last for about 1 sec. it would allow commanders get a feel of the enemy position without screwing over the enemy team. possible have a recharge time of like 10 mins.
The only way I would agree with an idea like this...is if the game ping mechanism would only highlight the units that were moving during the time of the scan (not units that are remaining still and motionless) In falcon 4.0 there is GMT and GM radar that a pilot can switch between. GMT only displays vehicles that are moving above a certain speed while GM only displays static objects. Functionality like this would be interesting in BF2 (but, I doubt the engine supports it) If a UAV or Satellite Scan displayed units moving like a GMT Radar it would be more fair to people that spend alot of time trying to stay hidden, motionless, and concealed. If I move as a sniper than that would make sense that someone would possibly spot my movement from the air. But, if I don't want to be spotted I should have the option of not being "pinged" by these unrealistic vanilla BF2 mechanisms.

It would be intersting to see Squad Leaders be able to place a limited number of sandbags. or dig foxholes. but sandbags work.
