Hey guys
One of my mates help me put this together and i wanted to know if it would be able to run PR on all High settings, because the one i have atm is turning into shit
1. CPU – Intel Q6600 $325 <- Quad core so it will be good for a while
2. Motherboard - Gigabyte X38-DS5 $312 <- good future proofer imo.
3. Ram – 2 X 2 GB 667 MHz Kingston ram $132 <- 4GB of ram will be good for future.
4. Hard drive - Seagate SATA 2 X 500GB $350 <- For mass storage
5. Graphics Card - Generic 8800GTX 768mb $649
6. DVD Burner – 18X Asus SATA D.L DVD-RW $45
7. Monitor – Chimei 221D(B) 22 inch widescreen $295
8. Power Supply – Thermaltake Tough power 750Watt $198
9. Case – Antec 900 $168 or Thermaltake Armor
Total
$ 2474
Any suggestions about it would be great

You gonna be dissapointed if your running 32bit windows. 4gig of ram will be a waste.
If your spending that much why not opt for raptor HDD's? that will improve performance no end.
As for quad core LOL!.., all you ppl out there who now even run dual core.., when your tasking bring up the task manager to see how much the dual core performance is eaten up. I will tell you now its next to nothing, total waste if you ask me.
BTW theres no such thing as a future proof PC component.
If you really wanna get technical about it that mobo is already obsolete as it doesnt cater for DDR3 RAM thats out already.

Quote from ArmA forums says it all.

Flashpoint has a weeks worth of out the box gameplay, after that it's boring. "

6800 might have been the highest for bf2 but pr needs more. I get 8fps sometimes, smoke is the biggest offender. I'd like to know if this can do better
I run a fps counter constantly so that I can tell network from graphic lag, imo this is not overkill if you want a perfect frame rate, sometimes the lag you get is from 90fps dropping to 30

^ QFT! If u want my 2 c: save on the quadcore, no application uses the quad technology atm, and none will use in the near future. Even Dualcores aren't used by most apps/games. Get a nice big shiny C2D like the E6750, get a Mobo that fits and 3-4 GB of RAM, and you'll be happy for a while. Better spend the money you saved on another monitor (Dualscreen FTW!), a X-FI Music or Gamer, a nice 5.1 Headset or speakers, and blow the rest on hookers and booze (or whatever u like).MadTommy wrote:It that case where is your sound card?... i'm not sure what the onboard sound is like on that mobo but normally its pretty poor.

Or, if you really want to spend 3k$ on your rig, go for a 88GTX SLI. Makes more sense than the Quadcore.

Whatever you will buy now - in 1 year its old stuff. I bought my rig in 2/07. It was top notch by then. Now i can play the crysis SP demo on medium with good FPS. It always depends on what you want to do. If you want to play the latest games for the next 4 years you can: a) spend 10k$ on the ultimate rig, b) buy a good rig and play happily the games that come out this/next year, and play them for the next 4 years or c) upgrade a good rig from time to time to stay up to date.
If you ask me: upgrading almost makes no sense nowerdays. One of the old components will always be a bottleneck. Better change the whole sys, when needed. Buy a decent rig now but not the "non plus ultra" - it makes no sense. Buying it now, without the apps or games to use it is a waste of money. Components get cheaper per day. Whats good now, is average in 6 months and costs 1/2 the price.
