[Question] Can we use these free models?

Post by Clypp »

http://www.3dcadbrowser.com/default.aspx

For example, here is a Humvee
http://www.3dcadbrowser.com/preview.aspx?ModelCode=509

Unfortunately, most of the models are high poly, but reding the wheels could correct this, at least give a huge jump start on a model.

The way the site works is, for each model upload you can download a model. The Terms of Service state:
All of the downloadable 3D models available in 3D CAD Browser (3Dclub UK) catalog may be used free in your own work. 3D models may not be sold individually or provided for free to another parties.
Interesting...

You need to contact the modeler and ask to use it on a free game modification

First of all that Humvee model is quite unrealistic to use in a mod set a little in the future such as PR. It's unrealistic because it's a standard Humvee without any kind of armor protection. At present time HMMWV's are being phased out by MRAP type vehicles and the ones still in service are Up-armored HMMWV's. Now to my second point; I'm already modeling a new M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV for a possible replacement of EA's **** excuse of a Humvee.

I'm modeling one for the same exact reason as the polish HMMWV. :-)
The Polish HMMWV is noticeably different from the American Up-Armored M1114's and if you read through this topic linked below you'll understand what I mean:

I started working on it yesterday, but unfortunately exams are near and I've been hit with a massive essay to do, so HMMWV's got to wait. :(

Not according to the ToS. That Humvee is just an example, there are thousands of models on that website.

Not exactly free:
On this web site you can download high-quality 3D models and upload yours for the exchange.
