Sorry, I meant to say all sides but I got distracted. And yes I meant all choppers.

And thanks guys for all the feed back.

From what it looks liked, when we crashed the chopper was "burning" like apcs/tanks and lost all motor functions which is all dandy. The problem is when you hit the ground you immediately explode(into a husk). If it's possible to delay the explosion a few seconds, it would be better I think.

Also what singing was talking about with the Blackhawk spinout, is similiar to happens in CISBHD (the 1942 mod) where if the chopper takes too much damage/rpg->tail it will spin out and eventually crash.

P.S. This probably has been mentioned, but RPG's don't explode on hitting cockpit glass.

What do you mean "over the internet"?

The mod I mentioned CISBHD is for BF1942, and it managed to accomplish the tail spin crash quite well.

how about making it so the the MEC Havoc doesnt beat the **** out of the apache because thats not real... (this is also the case for the US tank vs the MEC tank. the MEC tank can survive many more hits then the US tank, is this real?)

In what way does the Havoc beat the **** out of the Apache?

The Apache is faster over the ground and can easily outrun the Havoc even when the -28 is within lock-on range for the AAMs.

If you fly the Apache carefully and keep on the lookout for the Havocs, you can get yourself lined up on the Havoc's rear quarters or from right on top of their six- keep your AAM missile circle in the HUD off the enemy bird so you don't give them the lock-on warning, then when you're close (and I mean, CLOSE), pull your nose on top of them and dump a load of the rockets into them whilst your gunner hoses them.

If they evade and pull away, use the AAMs to hit them as they move away from you. It's a case of getting your gunner to hold his fire until you're close enough that you can guarantee the kill between you. If you gunner opens up from too far away, or if you aproach head-on, it doesn't matter if you're going up against the Apache, Havoc or Z-10, you'll still pull only a 50-50 chance of survival in any bird. Make the odds work for you!

Having the helechoppters spin out...

Post by singingmeat »

Will it be hard to do, as said by Death_dx and what I've played in CISBHD the spin out didn't effect my fps or any others.

Don't know if that's realistic or not, but doesn't it also depend where you hit the tank, threads and rear are weakest for rockets, same for tank shells I would think. Plus isn't the US tank a bit fast than the MEC's?

all i know is that the MEC tank survives 2 backside hits from the abrams and the abrams didnt survive 1 from the front

Joel wrote:Maybe having a system like on a tank, depending on where the RPG hits there are different consequences, if the RPG hits the cockpit then pretty much the pilot is dead... If the RPG hits the main rotor then you are also screwed... there must be a spot on each helicopter that would light up the fuel tank also.

I am no big authority on choppers, but would a chopper even take an RPG? Have seen alot of helicopters taken down one shot by them. If they did survive its like smash into the ground and the pilot isnt good for anything, most of the passengers dead...

Well i am enjoying this debate, would be good to see the damage system refined on the Helicopters.
I just wanted to point out that the reason everyone aims for the tail rotor is that, it is the easiest way to bring down a BH. So judging by that I would have to say, a BH or other large troop transport is likely to survive an RPG in one of the armored areas.

If a helicopter takes an RPG it is not going to be in the air, period. Blackhawks are notorious for taking numerous small and medium caliber rounds and staying not only in the air. but running with them all day. Even so, if you shoot it with a rocket designed to destroy light armor, it is going to be in a world of hurt. Helicopters rely on speed and passive countermeasures to stop missiles, you don't armor them like tanks.

Unless its a hind!

But yeah, an an RPG can cause serious harm to APCs these days. BHs are comparatively even weaker in armour terms.
An AT4 does some serious damage to the inside of a target, usually with some kind of incendiary or internal blast effect.
