enable left/right while swimming

Post by da.SPAWN »

the usage of left/right while swimming should be the same as in walking mode on land.

Doubt its possible. Would require access to mechanism that controls water movement...

What are you, a dog? Humans can swim in all directions. Personally I usually end up swimming down.

err. no way you can swim sideways. you can swim frontways and angle your body in the direction you want to go. your feet propel you forwards not sideways. however you can paddle sideways (using your arm to push you in the sideways direction) but lol you'll look like a real nut trying to do that and still hold onto your assualt rifle. and it'll be very very slow.

My post was as much joking as it was true, lean in the direction you want to go in and kick, it wouldn't be fast but it's possible.

lets not go into the physics of swimming sideways, the overall conclusion is you can DEFINATELY swim sideways

Right but the thread is about enabling left and right swimming. In which case I say enable it, but it needs to be slower than swimming forwards.

But then who would use it since its quicker to turn 90 degs and swim forward, lol :)

Can we swim backwards in the game btw? I've never thought of it. But in real life I've always been better going backwards than forwards. Until the pool ends that is.

I think you can swim backwards.

Why use it?: Looking around, turn your head but keep going in the same direction.

i think there are far more important things to be implemented...

honestly... swimming with full gear is very difficult.

go ahead and pile on 50 lbs of gear, and hold a 1 meter long weighted iron bar, then jump in a swift moving river, and tell me how swimming sideways goes for you..

honestly wtf??

It's just a suggestion. As it is there is no reason why a player can't swim sideways.

Has anyone actually tried swimming sideways, with clothes and shoes/boots on? Really, face forward like in the game and without moving your body (twisting) swim sideways. Ain't workin' all that well, is it? ;)

I agree that it 'feels' weird in the game when you can't move sideways in the water, but it makes sense. If PR does add the capability, it should be ultra-slow...

If someone goes MIA for awhile (like forever) we will know they tried.

Sure can. When sprint swimming backwards character does some half decent looking backcrawl
