Dirt Bike Coding

Post by TY2D2 »

This guy, Golden Dragon is a really good coder, used to be lead coder for First Strike, and he recently made a really good version of the Dirt Bike.

Now before you say.. OMFG stupid childish 15 year old. Obviously it needs some changes to fit in with PR, but the basic controls and handling are there. Reduce the speed, make it a little heavier so it doesn't get so muck air. Of course cut off those machine guns and you have an A+ Dirt Bike right there.

looks good, but will might still be laggy because everything done on a local server is better, but if you do it trough the net it lags up. but i see this as a big improvment, i am for it!

that is so much better than
a) the one we have now
b) the other one that was made

what i REALLY hate about the dirtbikes is the SLIDING
you go 30 km/h and then you get in a skid and you slide for hundreds of meters and its unrecoverable, and then your db just blows up.

Awesome. It looks like the First Strike speeder bike was a big influence on it.

It's like the SpeederBike on wheels :D

I think this was already done though, and the guy who did it was just waiting for a dev to respond/put it in or something.

that bike looks a bit 'too' invincible to be in PR it's a bit poo the way it picks up damage currently over little bumps though. Get that sorted and I'd be happy and ride off into the distance (those hands on the grips in the other vid is a very nice touch)

If that was in the game I doubt it would be used for any tactical purpose, everyone would just fly around and get 1337 air.

Hey yeah, I was making that a few months ago but I stopped due to a lack of interest. But if you guys are infact interested i might start working on it again.

Some of the aspects of this version seem really good, mabe i should take a look at it in the editor and see if i could improve mine further.

Edit: i think this may be a much beter way of doing it, i havnt checked yet but i think this is using coding rather than my attempt with moving wheels.

Edit2: ok seems like he is actually making this for PR so ill let him just get on with it
