That the front post on scoped weapons should be visible. Some weapons have removable sights or flip up ones and therefore shouldn't be visible through the scope.

Yeah I've noticed this before too, some of the front sights seem to magically disappear when you look through the scopes.

I am pretty sure DEVs have re-modeling the Ironsite at the super bottom of their prioritory list, or more lickly, not on their list at all!

But some other mods have done a nice job:

No no no no no. I hate that! I like using just the red dot because i can see above and below more, Not like iron sights where mos tof the screen is blocked off.

too bad...seems realistic to me.

and if you think about it, its really the rear sight that does all the blocking, nr the front one.

idk just my 2 pence

But it aint really realistic.

The L85 does'nt have it when the susat is mounted on it, M4 does'nt have it when the m68 or eotech is mounted on it, Tavor does'nt have it when the acog is mounted on it. Etc.

ok well there is a difference between the Rifles and scopes. Ok well the first one is an ACOG. You DONT want you front sights to be seen and it is possible that it (which it must likly is) the ACOG is sitting ontop of the carry handle. In this position the ACOG sights are over the other sights to provide "back up ironsights".

The second picture looks like the Aimpoint scope is set on a rail. which would place it between the 2 sights makeing the front sight visable. Also the red dot is to the top of the scope so the guy is looking down... is he was looking straight through it would be in the middle and directly ontop of the front sight. (So seeing the front sight in this case makes sense)

Front sights are something you only want to see when you are using it ... if you saw your front sight in your ACOG your vision can get blurred and cause you to miss the target by making your eye loose focus .

^This is most likely the one with the AGOC *Standard A2* (1st Picture)

Disclaimer: The pictures shown are only to show a point. They are not supose to be the rifles that are being shown in this tread.

The only time a weapon would be set up in such a way the you would see the irons in your optics is when they are either A) set up with the irons as a backup/addition to the primary (as in POE) or B) set up without any thought as to the field of view. So as long as the iron sights are in line with the primary they should be seen through the optic, if not they shouldn't be seen and probably shouldn't be on the weapon.

Most scopes with magnifications of 4x or more blur the iron sight making it virtually impossible to make out even if it's directly in the line of sight like shown here:

Image
That's why you'll find loads of pictures looking like this. The iron sight blocking your view would be very annoying indeed.

There is a problem with games and red-dot sights (as well as with beginners and red dot sights). Most reddot sights have no zoom allowing the user to keep both eyes open. The major advantage with this is that the shooter still has a very wide field of view and fast target acquisition. I don't really see how this can be fairly represented in games but the best compromise so far in my opinion is novalogics solution.

Image
The tube around the scope is barley visible. You actually do see more in real life but in terms of lost field of view I think this compromise is good. Place a pen 10 cm in front of your nose... can you see behind the pen. Same principle... It's difficult to show with pics (as cameras only have one "eye") and represent on a screen (since its flat). BTW the picture is a cut-out so you'd see the hud and some stuff above and under as well as to the sides of the scope in the pic.
