parachutes for all classes

Post by Tacticsniper815 »

hey umm i was playing your mod and i heard some1 saying only the spec ops had the parachutes is this part of the mod or was this a bug? if this is part of the mod you need to know that not only spec ops have chutes. there are Air Borne Infantry Units such as the 82nd Air Borne, 101st Air Borne, 75th Air Borne Ranger Regiment.

It is not a bug. This was purposeful as the USMC does not give every Marine a parachute. This was to stop classes (mainly) from jumping off buildings and effectively BASE jumping their way around the maps. The spec ops was chosen as the 'lucky class' you might say because they seemed the most appropriate to give it to.

In the future PR may include the factions that you speak of however I doubt that the parachute will be featured in the full version of PR the way it is currently in vanilla Battlefield 2. Which is to say it will be a one time use parachute if possible and will probably have a higher opening altitude, as is realistic. Also there is the idea of having a designated pilot class which would also recieve parachutes.

Hope this clears up your question :) .

101st doesn't do jumps anymore...

They're air assault.

Helicopter assault.

We most certainly do know that special operations forces are not the only ones who are parachute qualified. On maps where one faction is represented by an airborne or special ops unit, all of the classes on that team might have parachutes.

yeah i knew what he meant when he said air assault theres more special operators in the army than green berets.....75th Air Borne ranger Regiment they're air borne and air assault. theres not only a 101st air borne theres also a 101st aviation regiment the 101st air borne are a division. the 101st Aviation division obviously you probably know this but i'll tell you anyway...they fly the following helicopters
AH-64A Apache
UH-60 Blackhawk
AH-64D Apache Longbow

thats all i know for now. anyone else know any other 101st aviation air crafts?

I think the parachute should only be given to a player at the moment they enter or jump from a plane or chopper.

NO ONE runs around with a chute in battle.

Maybe chutes should only be given when exiting a chopper, not base jumping off cliffs? I think it's a good idea, and would encourage more team-oriented blackhawk use.

I agree 100 %. If this is not possible I would just leave parachutes out of the game completely. LMAO at running around a battle with a parachute on, The rig is like 40 somthing pounds.

One of the things confirmed to be under construction for PR is a Pilot class. This class will be equipped with a parachute. As of now, Special Forces has a parachute and the other classes don't. For me, that seems like a fair distribution. As far as I know, parachute drops from helicopters are rare. More something for special forces than for the average soldier. So Special Forces and Pilots would be the way to go in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I don't know. Maybe Fortnight could tell you that, or maybe the Pilot class is not in that stage yet, but so far all they said to my knowledge was that there will be one.

I just posted on how I love the fact that parachutes are only given to the special ops. class. You really get the fealing of being a spec. op. when you bail from a transport chopper deep into enemy lines and cap a flag from under them.

I say scrap Specops and make a pilots class. This is PR after all and no one can base jump off a three store building anyways. Thats waht makes the game fun. You run up a latter you gonna have to think of a way down.

What where all looking for is a military sim in BF2.
