does anyone agree with me when I say...
..That Basrah in 0.5 was a lot better than 0.6?

Yes a million times! But basrah will never be like it was in .5 again because in order for insurgency to work and the realism factor to go up, They had to reduce the variety of spawnable kits. I cant say it's a bad thing since this mod is as close to getting to realistic situations as possible with the bf2 engine.
But on the bright side though civi is fun and now people cant lone wolf anymore with the light at.

No. Now if you'd like to have an actual discussion, could you write a bit longer of a post please?

i would have to agree 100x that .5 basrah was better. i actually think it was a little MORE realistic. yes the marines do not operate in basrah but other than that i think the fact that you had superior firepower like tanks, apcs, cobras, even an a 10 {although thats the one thing i wish it didnt have} and you were up against insurgents who had little more than aks rpgs and technicals was much more realistic. people complained that it wasnt balanced. no s#$t it wasnt balanced its not balanced in the real world either. and yet the insurgents could still win it was all about tactics. i miss .5 basrah and i also miss that they took the apache away from the brits i hope .7 basrah regains some of the pure fun factor that .5 had.

QFT! I was the king of insurgents with my grapple, ak, and c4. And there was alot more squadwork to be honest. People had doctors, rpg gunners, and war vets all working tandem to destroy tanks, apaches, apc's, etc. Now it's just civi's, ambushers, and war vets, 2 of the 3 trying to get enemies kits. In .5 it was the other way around, The insurgent kits were sought after because of their versatility. And because they were worht holding onto.charliegrs wrote:i would have to agree 100x that .5 basrah was better. i actually think it was a little MORE realistic. yes the marines do not operate in basrah but other than that i think the fact that you had superior firepower like tanks, apcs, cobras, even an a 10 {although thats the one thing i wish it didnt have} and you were up against insurgents who had little more than aks rpgs and technicals was much more realistic. people complained that it wasnt balanced. no s#$t it wasnt balanced its not balanced in the real world either. and yet the insurgents could still win it was all about tactics. i miss .5 basrah and i also miss that they took the apache away from the brits i hope .7 basrah regains some of the pure fun factor that .5 had.

.5 Basrah was way more realistic, since when DON'T insurgents all run around with RPGs firing them at their feet, and firing GL's from every corner, and A10s doing strafing runs on urban cities they don't want to inflict collateral damage on!
I mean come on....
Yes the .6 civilian has some oddness to it and needs a tiny bit of tweaking, but .5 basrah was like a nilla on steroids come on people - it was a freaking spammy fragfest!
Look at it.... of course I played .5 basrah more than any map in PR when I was playing .5 ... but .6 is far better... minus the damn pickup rifle

like i said before the A 10 was the only thing i really hated about .5 but seriously i thought taking out any kind of attack chopper was a bad idea i mean trying to balance the 2 sides was probly the most UNREALISTIC thing to do. it didnt feel so much to me like a giant fragfest as it felt more like a siege on a insurgent dominated town like falluja where most of the civilians have fled. plus in .5 the insurgents actually looked like a rag-tag insurgent force with all different kinds of gear now they all look the same.

I thought .5 al basrah extraction was the best, i would hop in the AH-6 and mop up the VCP, I could take out usually 2 or 3 insurgents with one hydra, I would always land troops up on the gas station roof, then quickly ascend and orbit the VCP at high speeds killing every insurgent that was stupid enough to walk outside of the city.
those palm trees got me so many times, you never seem to expect a 30ft palm tree until your tail rotor slams into it as you bank.

every ambush story from patika in afghanistan to basra tends to mention one weapon as being favored by insurgents. RPG's
Read this article http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/men ... art-ii.htm
At the minute, basra has only 3-4 rpgs out of 32 players available. In real terms it should be more like half aks, half rpgs

I was not here for 0.5 but the 0.6 one is good for clan war because of the masive orgainisation needed especuly by the brits i find it embarising to have KIA Tommies lieing on every corner so i make sure iv medics and i use the amoured cars that drive like a pregnet cow but are completly bullet proof there arsom on that map there like a ambalance when you got a med driving it and thay can't shoot you out of it. so this maps ok for full servers other wise it boring, and turning it into a nade feast probubly is realistic, but i like my situations hairy other wise it no fun.[R-CON]caboose wrote:I actually preferred 0.5 since it felt more like a larger scale battle. But I digress, this whole thread was ill conceived. If you don't like something say why using an actual argument, otherwise don't bother.

but you need to do that other wise insergents can't win. plus you can turn that place into a fortrus i was solo while my squad when't for the weapons i ended up killing 12 people and did not die once, it very defencable position that IF you've a commander.Spaz wrote:I think they need to make the VCP uncapeble beacuse all the insurgents does is to rush it...
