Right before I drop the proverbial prison soap this is NOT a suggestion for the M82 or anything like that.

I'm just wondering whether anti-material rifles are ever planned for PR to actually serve an anti material purpose and not as pickup sniper kits for nobheads.

Sorry for having to do this, but I just wanted to clarify what the developers think of giving them some actual purpose in the future, and whether they are actually used in conventional warfare very often.

I think if an anti-material rifle was in PR people would be too stupid to use it properly, and would try and shoot infantry with it - I think we have enough anti-vehicle methods in PR personally and don't think we need another kit for "nobheads"

Though your intent is good, the people will generally misuse it I think

well anti -material snipers are used often in real combat to immobilize cars etc and also to shoot ppl.

Well, knowing it's a caliber weapon and not a rocket, it would be useful when trying to kill a pilot in a chopper window at medium to large distances. (While most of missiles miss because of flares and rockets can only work on stable short distances toward the chopper)
Also, shooting with such calibers on a small vehicle window like the Humvee can is indeed deadly. Finally, it would deal small to medium damage to medium armored vehicles and no damage on tanks.

Finally, it ain't much of a noob kit, because it would require to prone, there would be a very small amount of ammo, the recharging delay would be long (tough not as long as hat) and kit would have no pistol, no nades, 2 smokes, field dressings and the AM rifle. There would be only ONE kit per squads, and squad would need 3 members minimum like the sniper rifle.

Usually, the n00b's gonna stop to : Hey, i gotta prone, hey low ammo sux, hey, I can't run fast anymore, hey sniper rox against infatry while this sux lolroflmaohahagtfosht... The sniper kit would indeed be better against infantry because of reloading time, kit equipment and better maneuvrability.

AM rifles are exclusively usefull against light armored to medium armored vehicles and would rarely be used otherwise on infantry because it would be an incredible waste. (I'd prefer shooting on a landrovers motor with the AMR to blow it up than shooting the driver with sniper then getting killed.)

I'm not an expert about army, and i'm just suggesting the uses of it. In my mind anyway, armies wouldn't use it oftenly.

To shoot down helicopters, disable light cars(such as jihad cars), shoot through bunkers firebases sandbags oh and to totally anilate the face of some guy :wink: (just kidding)

It would be a one hit kill to any armored or unarmored infantry. Should penetrate most glass. Also would disable (immolbize) any jeep like vehicle (Land Rover, HMMWV, Nanjing, INS unarmored vehicles, Vodnik) and cause considerable damage to helicopters (like 10%)

having 2 different types of sniper rifles is enough.
hell one shot is enough to kill a soldier in PR, do we really need to leave a crater while we're at it?

I think that 6+ people with long range weapons in a 64 player server is already pushing the realistic ratio of soldiers to snipers in real life.

But seriously, I agree with dark talon. It's a rainy day in the sahara when a combat unit fishes out their M82 to tag a lone BRDM. It would just be used as an anti-infantry weapon, just like now, but with a mildly expanded use. Its just redundant and not representative of real life.

The AM rifles are used against infantry not coz they are useless vs cars/chopters. If they would do something like 20% damage to cars and 10-15% to chopters they would probably be used propperly

To me adding a AM Rifle to the game could be done right and done wrong, If there was a way to make it disable cars then sure, but i don't want to see a M82 that does 20% to cars just because it's on the verge of going from realistic to just plain dumb. I mean, yea, these can destroy vehicles in real life but in the game people would just spam cars with 4-5 rounds and blow it up which really is kinda gay for the guy on the receiving end. IMO it was a retarded move by the devs putting the M82 on Al Basrah, all it is is a un-realistic noob weapon that pulls the more noobish members of the team to fight over one frickin building in the middle of nowhere, I've seen the Merlin, 4 land rovers at a time and more lost because noobs want to go for that POS. Down right FUBAR is what it is.

I think they would work if the devs coded it so if a car gets hit in a certain spot it's disabled. Just like .5 with the tanks treads.

You can break tank tracks with an Anti-Material rifle firing a few shots only in reallife! Choppers can be taken out very quick, too. But only if the chopper is floating, hitting a fast flying chopper is nearly impossible!

The main use of such a Anti-Material is to take out unarmored or light-armored vehicles, destroying tank tracks, radars, military objects, covered MG emplacements and for sniper missions where it's needed to kill with the first shot but that's not really the normal use of an AM.

The suggestion of Tannhauser is a bit hard.. that kit should have a pistol too. Even with only 2 mags for it! The AM should have 10-15 rounds, depends on the weapon type and magazine type.

well what type of am rifle are we talking about? the m82 is a am rife really the only one i know, but if you wanted it to really have a big punch make it fire the mk211. or this gun

it can shoot a 20x83.5mm round,but i would use the 14.5x114mm round that shoots at 1080m/sec. it also only has 3 round mag so sniping people would really be a big waste.

The AM rifles if realistic should do 100% damage to a car thats hit in the engine same goes for a chopper. No way are those engines gonna keep going if they have a hole half the size of island through them.

You can do even more damage with the HAT kit. I dont see a problem with AM rifles. If they are used as AM rifles that it

I was under the impression that this kinda thing had been mentioned several thousand times before. So I just thought I'd ask if you guys had come to a conclusion on the matter, thought this would be the most appropriate place to stick it.

Also wanted to find out how rarely they are used if anyone knows, presumably Bob or Kenway will know.

As for the 6+ long range riflemen, it wouldn't be too much of a problem if there was only 1 sniper (and preferably none on some maps) and the same deal for these, if they ever deserve a place in PR that is.
