really old trick with wireguided missiles, mate. place your cross hairs just off the tank so the warning doesn't go off, launch the missile then put your sights on the target (and therefore guide the missile to it) at the last second.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

lets just solve your problem here. do tanks have a lock on tone irl?

and btw the enemy can see your silhouette quite easily on a map like kashan.

What I think he's complaining about is the fact that the fix that the DEVs tried to put on the HAT (the "can't shoot for 20 seconds" thing) is not really a perfect solution (not criticizing here, it's still way better than originally). You can still pull out the Heavy AT, and just wait behind a hill or something, and then when you're able to fire, expose yourself for one second and shoot.

I don't really know anything about the RL "heavy at" systems, but I think ideally, the person should have to stand still for 20 secs before firing to simulate actually setting up the HAT.

Dunno if that's do-able, but I think I might have seen a " ;) " posted about it somewhere...

Current H-AT systems, such as the predator and javelin, take effectively no setup time. The weapon that is currently modeled in BF2/PR is a SRAW Predator, not a SMAW. SMAWs are pretty rare in the US military, and Predators/Javelins are still basically non-existent except for SF and certain units who they have been specifically deployed to. The US mostly relies on anti-armor weapons in the form of guided missiles from TOW systems, various aircraft, and other tanks. Most infantry units that deploy are going to be equipped with Humvees mounting TOW missiles, and AT4s/some stand in. If I've said something totally incorrect someone please jump in, but this is my current understanding, backed up by minor amounts of research.

The T90 is equipped, generally, with the Shtora-1 defensive suite. It consists of sensors that attempt to see incoming missiles, and then decoy/interfere with their guidance systems. It is capable of taking autonomous control of the turret in order to help tankers take defensive action faster. T90s can also be equipped with reactive armor to help reduce the force of missile impact and stop missile penetration.
Neither of these systems is really possible in BF2, so we have a warning buzzer. So you're kinda sorta right.

Currently it still takes a lot of skill or an utterly moronic tank crew to maneuver into a one shot kill position with HAT.

The bring crosshair onto target at last minute to avoid the warning icon, old trick.

Fundamentally HAT is good ATM, it needs minimum range for it, but the delay is fine.
Main problem is that infantry don't deal with priority enemies.. ie. HAT guys soon enough or have their marksman hanging back watching for one.

Problem is that infantry and tanks aren't working closely enough together, rarely do you see a tank wondering how best they can work with the infantry, and rarely do you see infantry trying to get ahead of tanks in light vehicles to clear a path.

TBH, it hasn't. At least not in a way it works in PR and vBF2 in general.

There's not a tank on Earth, that can "sniff out", that there's a dude aiming with a wire-guided rocket launcher on it.

It would be nice to change the warning tone to react only after the rocket was fired.

The Strv 122 (Leopard 2S) has.... for laser targeting... creating a lock on warning for a wireguided missile would be impossible... since it doesnt lock on...

I think the HAT system works fine as it is. Im disappointed to hear that the DEVs are working on a solution when IMO there is no solution needed because there is no problem. Tanks are already the king of the battlefield i dont see why a little competition is a problem.

I really don't think that was his angle somehow...

Do H-AT guys carry 2 missles by the way? I don't play the kit hardly ever so can't remember. If so how come they get 2 and not 1 and a rifle? Is it possible to carry 2? (I've heard their pretty light for what they are but they look pretty bulky)

It doesnt work EXACTLY like in PR, but IRL the T90 has sensors that warn the crew of incoming missiles. And AFAIK they also have a system that confuses wireguided missiles

SMAW hasn't been in PR for a while (it was used as a placeholder until we had an AT4 model), and I don't think anyone has mentioned it in this thread. :? : As for being rare, the Mk-153 SMAW reusable launcher it is used only by the Marine Corps (both the Army and Marines use the single shot disposable SMAW-D as the Bunker Defeat Munition), so in that sense it is uncommon. However, every Marine rifle company has a weapons platoon, which includes an assault (SMAW) section; 6 two-man teams, which are "chopped" to the rifle platoons (3 per company), so every Marine rifle platoon can conceivably have two SMAWs.

The Javelin was widely issued in the late 1990s and now two are found in every US Army infantry platoon, in either a weapons squad of the rifle platoon (light infantry units), or are issued to trained gunners in each dismount rifle squad (Stryker and Bradley mech infantry units). In the Marine Corps, the Javelins are found in the battalion weapons company, along with the heavy machine-gun and TOW equipped HMMWVs (which are also found at the battalion level weapons companies in Army light infantry units).

As for the AT4s (US designation M136), they are going to be more common, since they are issued to a couple of riflemen in every squad as a round of ammunition. Unlike the medium and heavy ATGM systems, all US infantrymen are trained in its use.

The 75th Ranger Regiment also uses the Carl Gustav M3 84mm Recoilless Rifle in their company weapons platoons / platoon weapons squads.
