Heavy and light support gunner kits

Post by charliegrs »

i always thought that one thing that was severly lacking in PR was the use of heavier machine guns {with the exception of the PK} the support gunner class currently in the game has what think should fill the role of a light support gunner class but i think a heavy support class would be realistic because some heavy machine guns you see commonly used in real life are not yet present in PR. the advantage of a heavy support gunner would be longer range, more stopping power {as it would typically be a 7.62 round as opposed to a 5.56} and more accurate but would probly only be really effective in the crouching or prone position. this is how i think the loadout should be:

US marines/army
light support: m249 SAW -this is correct so keep it the way it is
heavy support: m240 -this is the current 7.62mm machine gun of the US military

British
light support gun: FN MINIMI - its basically the same thing as the m249 so i would say just keep what the have
heavy support gun: - L7 GPMG - again this is basically the same as the m240 looks a tiny bit different but not enough to make a new model for i think

MEC
light support gun: RPK - just bring the model back from vanilla
heavy support gun: HK21E - this is what the MEC uses currently i would say just switch it to heavy support class as it is a 7.62mm gun.

China
light support gun: type 95 LMG - is what china is currently using in-game as the support class. just switch to light support
heavy support gun: type 67 GPMG - this is like a rip-off of the russian made PKM but it looks a little different

Insurgents
light support gun: RPK
heavy suppirt gun: PKM

militia
light support gun: RPK
heavy support gun: PKM

of course i think these should all remain limited requestable kits with the exception of the insurgent and milita kits which should remain pick-up kits. tell me what you think

Already suggested, but a good idea nevertheless. Maybe have the GPMG's/HMG's with mounted optics and utilising a variation of Golden Dragon's deployable weapon system pickup kit (http://bfeditor.org/forums/index.php?sh ... =10775&hl=)?

these should be similar to the M82 and should prevent people from firing from the hip.

Time and time again, yes.

Time

Time again

But why on earth the RPK?

optics on support is a good idea and making so they own is a good idea too remember the MG42 from medal of honor Allied Assault that how a light or heavy machine gun should be in a game OR the PR 50cal id give these devs a medal for that it is devastating but it too big to move around.

Hopefully the machine gun will be better in 0.7 because there getting ride of that stupid snap aim I hope they make it so if you move at all while aiming whether it from a crouch or prone or moving when crouching or prone you get the aim penalty other wise people can still snap aim making suppressive fire use less.

Well, links have already been posted, so we don't need those. Please search before making a suggestion, thank you :-)

And now, I strike with the lock-down of justice!
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!
