Support Class
Does anyone else feel that the support class is extremely under used? I spent a couple of hours on the TG server today, and at any given time there was only 1 support class in use. I switched between medic, rifleman, and support, and was pretty surprised that there was no rush for the machine gunner. The MGs are significantly superior to the standard rifles in almost all terrain, and the only difference is half the grenades and no shovel.
So why does no one use this class?

The same goes for grenedier (sp?).. hardly anyones uses it.
When they weren't limited they were so over used.. i suppose the scope is one reason, as said above.
As far as no scope.. binoculars and a massive amount of firepower is enough for me.

ok seriously people how many machine guns like the m249 SAW do you see in real life with a scope? its not a fully automatic sniper rifle. its a suppression weapon. you shoot a stream of lead in the direction of the enemy and instead of pure accuracy like a rifleman you count on the amount of lead you throw out to kill the enemy. also it keeps the enemy down so your squadmates can move. the fact that people dont know how to properly use this gun is why you dont see it used much.

your absolutly right, but in this game if you use it like IRL u will die fast, cause its like a line pointing in your direction for an ememy to spot you.
even IRL the gunner is usually the main target. allthough its a little tougher to get him.

I've seen them many times with a scope out in the field.

well for this weapon to be good people have to be afraid of getting hit, right now you get hit or die you can just spawn back on squad leader, now ifproject reality had a 1-2min spawn time and you could not spawn on apc, or squad leader people would really hold on to their life, so this gun would be more better.

Longer spawntimes is not the answer. Ppl will still do the same stupid things they do even if their game crashed to desktop everytime they diedzangoo wrote:well for this weapon to be good people have to be afraid of getting hit, right now you get hit or die you can just spawn back on squad leader, now ifproject reality had a 1-2min spawn time and you could not spawn on apc, or squad leader people would really hold on to their life, so this gun would be more better.

I find support kit useful when assaulting bunkers. Just keep firing at those window things in longer burst so noone sticks their head out and get someone to rush that bunker with a nade or C4

Yes, you can, the M145 Machine-gun Optic (MGO), which is a variant of the ELCAN family of sights.[R-CON]caboose wrote:I'm pretty sure that you can mount a scope on the SAW if you got the money. I mean if I knew that I'd be facing opponents with scopes I'd definitely use one.
Haven't seen an ELCAN on UK L110A1s, but have seen the SUSAT mounted on one.

it's pretty weird to see the mg and grenadier kit almost always available, but I don't mind. That just means that my squad can get one when we need it.
And one of the biggest reasons for not using the mg is the fact that suppressing fire doesn't really work. If someone is shooting a lot at my direction I just pop out from another corner/window and headshot him. Suppressive fire really needs to be a lot more effective. But then again I'm pretty sure it would take a huge amount of time and effort to make most materials so that you can shoot through them.
