Naval maps

Post by Tom#13 »

Dont know if this has beeen suggested before but,
Id like to see naval map/s, you could have the US and UK navy attempting to destroy the chinese fleet ahead of a amphibious landing. Or in the middle east you could have an objective map, say the MEC are transporting supplies to the front by see and the US tries to stop the ships from getting through, sought of like a convoy map. The US side would have to sink the ships before they reached their destination while MEC have to get as many ships as possible. say if more than 4 ships are sunk MEC lose, more than 4 get through US lose.
What do u think

It would be easier to make it if Mec captures the last base AAS mode that they win.

Wouldn't this (naval maps) require other sea based vehicles, such as larger ships (destroyers, frigates, submarines) which are player controllable?

(If I'm being a noob here I'll shamefully retire to my trailer, lol)

Yes it would. Personally I think its a good idea, but not really necessary.

It would be very neat to see a large naval battle but if it were realistic and authentic there would be very little chance of the Chinese winning. Seen as the US Navy is one of if not the most powerful naval force in the world.

The BF1942 naval battles where pretty weak. A destroyer, a battleship, a submarine and that's it (the aircraft carrier wasnt really good for much except for beaching). The lack of faster ships (both as a target and fun to command) was pretty apparent.

just say the chinese had air superiority at that point and only give the chinese planes, that might even it out a little

i believe pirates did naval battles well (even if it was loosely based on reality and set in 1700s)

This wouldn't be very realistic either seen as the Chinese air force is mostly made up of very old obsolete planes.

Well I personally think that a battle in a belly button would be very unrealistic. So that's why I voted no.

Uh, there hasn't been a naval force that could compete with the U.S. Navy since WW2, and that was the Japanese, and we all know how they measured up! And you can't really count the former Soviet Union fleet since we never had any direct confrontations. Besides they were not much more than floating rust buckets anyway.

The U.S. Navy is by far the most powerful, advanced, AND largest naval force in the history of the world!

What am I on about? Thats not what he said. "He said one of, if not..."

When you get done with school, maybe you'll then know proper English and know that theres a big difference! "one of, if not" means as yet undetermined, at least by the person making the statement.

All I was "on about" was that there is no question to be answered. The US Navy IS the most powerful, by far. It is a FACT. No other navy comes close.

Sorry if I come across as yet another arrogant "Yank", but I'm damn proud of my country and what it has accomplished in a bit over 200 years, and particularly the Navy of which I am a veteran.

Being proud of your country does not include telling people 'when you get done with school' please keep insults off of the forums.

In saying 'one of if not the' I erred on the side of caution, so I don't think that's anything to be upset about. Also I said 'is' meaning present, so that wouldn't include the Soviet fleet.

Anyway Tom, I was just pointing out that the Chinese airforce is made up mostly of older planes, I didn't mean to piss on your parade at all :) . I was meaning more that the Chinese, in BF2 as it is now, have J-10s which have, as far as I can tell, much better turning abilities than the US aircraft. This goes the same for the MEC planes. I find this odd because in just about every other sense of the game, the US has the upper-hand, but not in the air, which is where it should be if anywhere at all. So really I think it would be difficult to get a balanced game going with either naval or air power and styill keep an authentic game experience for the players.
