"Universal" bullet penetration possible !?

Spartan117gw stated in this news that the BF2 Assault Mod will have a complete bullet penetration system.

As of 0.6, bullet penetration in PR isn't as advanced as Spartan plans to implement it, imo. (If I'm wrong, feel free and correct me.) With the help of Spartan this feature can be enhanced in PR, perhaps.


I did a search and found it in the "already suggested" thread but I think it's worth to mention it again because of the news. This improvement would definitely make PR more realistic and give it some new aspects.

I believe PR and the BF2 Assault have cooperated in getting US Army skins for the mod so it may be likely that the BF2 Assault mod will share a bit more.

Bullet penetration can actually be implemented into the BF2 engine rather well. It's undergone huge changes in 0.7 development.

What exactly are you guys talking about now..? What bullet penetration?

I'd guess bullets going through destructable walls etc.

Stop teasing us! It just gets us all hot and bothered!

Anyhow, that sounds good to me. Much better than a lot of the other BF2 limitations.

A while back, DICE was advertising bullet penetration in vBF2 - what happened to it? I never noticed it in vBF2, because I'd get bombed or insta-proned before I could even find cover/"concealment".

bullets go through the tin fences
just the other day ill killed some one that way because i saw his shadow
also heat round do go through walls as well

The splash damage goes through I think, but not the round.

I think that is correct. I remember teasing a Abrams MBT by jumping up over a tin fence multiple times. The rounds didn't hit me through the fence. He must have shot about 500 rounds of coaxial before giving up entirely. :lol:

hey whatsup. man it would be great if pr got the feature. all you need to do is allow solid penentration for all weapons you want to be able to shoot through walls\floors\corners of buildings\sandbags\trees(and in pr the materials for 556 and 762 bullets are differnt so they can make the 762 have more penentration power.

the only problem is

taht pr has sooo many materials in its material manager and define id get stuck

all i did was look at the basic define code of like the metal fence. gave that penetratuion feature to pretty much every thing exvept vehicle armor and bullet proof fence(you dont want ak rounds going through apc's do ya lol90



easy as that though. its fun cus now a 50 cal machine gun can really take out guys ina building. you can adjust the damage dampening and deveation when the round passes through a surface too.

one time i was in one of those destroyed village houses thats basicaly lik e1/2 a house and a guy with a pkm (SUPPRESSION FIRE now is use full thanks to this) and he was hammering my position and the rounds i could see were going clean through(though they lose a fair amount of damage) and then a bullet when THROUGH THE WALL AND GOT ME IN THE FACE. end of story for me


GREAT FOR SNIPING. guy in a building or behind a wall. just shoot. dosent work every time cus

2 bullet deviates (as much as you make it deviate) and may miss when passing through. works


you can do the same for tanks

the co-axil machine gun on tanks and apc's does go through fences fools

many a people thought they were safe behind a fence, in comes the coaxil gun shoots at fence and watch kills go up and UP!

Tin fences: nope, see-through fences: indeed. Unless you are inadvertently referring to 0.7 beta changes. :grin:

no not to .7 changes, but THEY DO go through tin fences,

if dont beleive me go argue with R-DEV jaymz, hes the 1 that taght me that :D

So you're saying it would really be feasible to put this into PR as it would take to much time to make it work for all the different material we have?
