I like both. It depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm in a serious tactical squad and I want to have some layed back banter I'll make my own or join another. Vice versa. As long as there is talking I'm happy.

Quiet squad = bad squad in most cases.

Lol good selection of quotes waah_wah describes my SL skills perfectly :D

There are objectives to be done, and if it's something important to the game then I dont mess about "several hostiles 3o'clock north" "Hostile fire! support cover south, Squad evac due west" Nothing but business If its a situation like that, but it is good to mix it up occaisionally to make it all a bit more fun and interesting, youll also find your medic listen to you more if you invite them for doctors and nurses... worrying

In my opinion voip is util when you are down because you can advise, say suggestion to SL noob and for vehicle couple.
I see some times people saying: "enemy tank! and they do not spotted it in GPS, or squads running around the map and they never doing nothing positive only ineffective strategies and a lot of Rally Points.
Personally I like play simple, at least in a public games.
Besides I think that a lot of people like me have not a good level of english and sometimes it can do this simple(following map orders) game complicated, this last is my problem I know ;) .

since i too have friends that i play with regularly, we usually talk about real life and how we are made of win and gold!

I make sure that my SL's given order is understood, inform my squad of visual contacts and since im often a medic i may ask if everyones ok. But between missions or in a non combat situation i enjoy people telling stories and chatting...
sometimes you get that REAL feeling when someone is telling a story and just before the point someone screams INCOMMING!!! and all hell breaks lose :D

if we're not fighting I try and find out more about my squad.. once we're fighting I make sure it's purely related to the battle :D

I also use TS if a few clan members are leading other squads..

I tend to play the quiet, strong type and keep my communications to a minimum with a simple Yes/No (actually I say alright ,OK , gotcha or something like that) or call out contacts and focus on the game.

Some players tend to chatter on and on about various things (some game related , some not) making it more of a social event except I don't know them so can't really join in.

And what's your idea of a "fun game"?

Is it howling with laughter , joking around with other players and finally ending the round with a belly ache from laughing so hard...

or..

the squad pulled together , followed orders and completed the objectives.

Your opinions?
I always use voip. it makes BF2 and PRM infinitely more awesome. there's no way I could go back to PRM without voip now

I've been known to kick people who do not use VOIP. I like strict rules on chatter.

Everything has to be related to: Where you are, where the enemy is, what kits and assistance are required and how we are going to proceed.

If I am not SL, I shut up unless addressing one of these issues.
